I enjoy Laughlin a day or two at a time. Stayed there a week once, and that was too long.
As far as taking the bus down and staying overnite, it's not allowed, but talk to the person who greets the bus. I did and the next day he spoke to a driver with less than a full load and I got a ride. Surprisingly, neither the greeter or the driver would accept the $5 Bill I offered them. When we got to Vegas, I noticed others tipping him so that's what I did. They are pretty strict on no luggage so travel light.
One peeve- I was staying at Harrahs and had a 745 pickup. We were the first ones on the bus and went to a couple of hotels before returning to the Imperial Palace for their scheduled 830 pickup. The walk to the pickup area of the IP was the same as the Harrahs pickup and would have savex45 minutes of driving around casino parking lots.

We are going to Laughlin Aug. 24 on a Harrah's charter. I've been twice but a long time ago.

I'm glad to know of the walkway and the cruise, as I'll want some time away from the casino for sure.

I can walk and climb stairs just fine, but my friend cannot, so it is good to know and not waste her time trying for the cruise.
Yes, they should fix that. I'll probably look at going by myself anyway.

02.... perhaps by the time you visit the elevator at the cruise will be fixed. Maybe it was fixed right after I left in May!
It seems like a crazy thing to ignore with so many seniors in Laughlin.

Bill...but what if you got to Laughlin, stayed a night or two and tried to get on one of the tours buses going back to Vegas and did not succeed? Then you would have to find your own way.
Apparently there is a company called Aloha Tours that does round trip transportation..but not same day.

I can see how a week would be too long.

There is regular bus service once or twice a day by public transportation, and you can always share an airport van that will pick you up at your hotel and drop you at McCarren.
In recent years, I've always rented a car. That way you can get to Grapevine Canyon, or Christmas Tree Pass, or Oatman.

Nice trip report! Laughlin is a nice change of pace. I've stayed there three times - twice at the Flamingo Hilton (now the Aquarius) and once at the Edgewater. I think it's worth more time than just a day trip...it looks like you felt rushed.

...before Don Laughlin started building his own neighborhood down there, the area was known as South Pointe.

Laughlin is a great visit for a few days! It is so less hectic than Las Vegas. We always head here (90 miles south and a lovely ride) after landing in Las Vegas from the east coast. Several walkable casinos to visit right along the Colorado River. Enjoy going across the bridge into Bullhead City and visit Oatman, the old western town with wild burrows roaming. Fun little trip. Many Mexican restaurants here too. Visiting the Avi casino (Indian) is great time too.

Everyone in and about the Laughlin area are very friendly.....extend your trip here; it will be a great time!
