NASCAR Fans in Vegas...

Let me start by saying I am a NASCAR fan and (obviously) a Vegas nut too, so coming to Vegas for a race last year was a big treat.

I was talking to a lot of the dealers, bartenders, servers etc. and they all agreed that NASCAR fans are some of the best in sports. The waitress at Ballys said they tipped well and were polite. She mentioned the NBA All star weekend was awful and that for the first time ever, they had to shut the restaurant down during peak breakfast business because of the fights. She also said the MMA/UFC Crowd seem to be angry and aggressive all the time.

A bartender at GG told a great story about race 2 fans arguing over drivers, and they almost started fighting, but no punches thrown. He said later that night, the same 2 guys were back at the bar, laughing and drinking together.

Say what you will about race fans, but they/we are a loyal bunch..

marko..
NASCAR has a southern fan base. Southerners are polite and respectful. That attitude spreads.
I think my #18 hoodie may cause a ruckus
Ha.. that or just say the word "Danica." You will get an earful about an overrated driver or a smattering of love..

Let me preface this by saying I am not a Danica "The Marketing Machine" Patrick fan.
She has as many wins in her Nascar career as the following drivers have had in a greater number of races.
(Yes, they have at least visited victory lane once)
Mark Martin winless in 83 races
Joey Logano winless in 93 races
Jeff Burton winless in 115 races
Dale Earnhardt Jr winless in 131 races
Casey Mears winless in 164 races
Martin Truex Jr winless in 169 races
Bobby Labonte winless in 290 races

As you can see, most of these guys drive for what is considered "top tier" teams.
Danica may never see victory lane but we will see her on TV plenty.
Did they have the parade of NASCAR trucks go up the strip this year?

I'm not a NASCAR fan but I'm glad I get to see Danica instead of those other guys.

Happens tonight at 6.
I feel the same about Danica as I do Jr. Not a fan, but I hope they do well. It's good for the sport.
