The NBA hierarchy . . .

. . . may soon learn a lesson about the consequences of annoying a billionaire.

Over at ESPN,com the headline reads: "Donald Sterling aims to 'dig up' dirt".

"LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling's team of lawyers has hired four private investigation firms to dig up "dirt" on the NBA's former and current commissioners and its 29 other owners.

The person who spoke to the AP said Donald Sterling reluctantly agreed to hire private investigators after this week's legal proceedings in probate court. The NBA submitted a legal filing Wednesday urging a judge to confirm Shelly Sterling's authority to sell the team.
'He realized these guys will literally go to any low to get this sold,' the person said. 'Even if it gets [him] nothing other than exposing all these guys and shaking up the league and seeing a change in the leadership of the league, it'll be worth it to him.'

The firms will be engaged in an 'audition' of sorts, the individual said: 'Whoever delivers the best [material] is going to stay on for the next round, and it might be all four of them ... 29 owners is not a small undertaking.' "

DonDiego intends to buy a large popcorn, set himself down, and enjoy the show.

Don't you get the feeling that he is going to end up shooting himself again and again and only end up with a fraction of what he could have received?

You have other owners/billionaires who may already be employing investigators to investigate themselves and see what is out there and to also see if there is further dirt on Sterling.

DonDiego is quite indifferent to whether Mr. Sterling harms himself or helps himself. He means nothing to DonDiego.
DonDiego is quite indifferent to whether other NBA owners and executives are harmed or exonerated by investigation of their lives. DonDiego has no interest in the NBA, its management, its teams, team owners, or players.

DonDiego is in this solely for the entertainment.
In this case "dig up dirt" just means sex - maybe even the gay kind - or maybe drugs. Yawn. This sort of thing might have worked a few years ago, when the US suffered from hyper-religiosity and puritanical beliefs, but now sensible people realize it's okay to do who you want. Or what you want.

Too bad Jerry Buss isn't still alive. He would probably have provided photographs.

from what I just saw they are focusing on discrimination against pregnant employees of the NBA/Teams and past racial or otherwise embarrassing speech and conduct by other NBA Owners or officials. Seems like they have something on the discrimination against pregnant employees or they wouldn't be leading with that.
I hope the NBA and Sterling nuke each other in court and there is nothing left but a smoldering mass.
The NBA is a crap league with a crap product.
It's only basketball..... who cares.
Agreed. The NBA is a yawnfest.
