Need help with a Word problem

I'm totally baffled and need the help of someone really good with formatting in Word.

I am working on a training guide and have been having the table of contents auto fill as I wrote. Now I am trying to print the book, and while the entire book prints side to side like a normal book, the table of contents prints end to end.

I've tried putting in section breaks, manual page breaks, I've checked paper size...I don't know what else to try. Anyone have any idea what might cause this problem--and more importantly, how to solve it?

Thanks for any help you can offer. k
If you want to send to me, I'll fix it for you. I'm expert at this kind of thing and have some time to kill tonight.
Aw man! I thought it was going to be a math problem. I can't help you with computer stuff.

Thank you for the kind offer. I have a non-disclosure agreement for the book, however, so I can't send you the document. I appreciate your offer though. k
First things I would try is: while in your document hit the following: Cntrl-A, Cntrl-C, Cntrl-N, Cntrl-V. This will give you a new document and could fix things if your document is corrupted. Do you have header/footer on the TOC page? Make sure they are unlinked to previous headers/footers and check their width to make sure it's not fixed wider than 7 inches.
Helps if you have a document that is already laid out in this format, save a copy and revise it with your info.

It's easy to add a TOC from scratch.

Change all your chapter titles text to Heading1 style (change subtitles to Heading2 if you want two levels).
Move cursor to where you want the TOC. Select References, Select Table of Contents. Insert.
Thanks for the help guys. I've been away for a couple of days so haven't tried any of this yet, but I will. Thanks again. k
Finally figured it out, and it was stupid. I chose the wrong template for my toc. Apparently one is programmed to print end to end (the one I chose) and one side to side. Would be nice if they'd designated it somehow...oh well. learn by doing. Thanks for your suggestions. k
