I got one of those once lol. It took a picture of me with my web cam and made me the center of the wanted poster. It was easy enough to get rid of I just reinstalled windows, but the anti virus stuff was useless against it. Another tip: cover your webcam with a piece of black electrical tape when not in use.
If this kind of stuff really bothers somebody I'd suggest buying one of those $199 Chromebooks those things are about as immune as you can get since it is cloud based.

Used to use Google Chrome and it was WAY too problematic in my 7 computer.
Had to revert back to Internet Explorer. When I did and ran SPYBOT,it cleaned out a PILE of malware on the first run!
Stuff that Defender ignored!
With SPYBOT,I think I could go back to Google Chrome.
It's that good. Free,too!
I did try AVAST but it was too invasive for my taste.
I'll agree with malibber 2: if you do porn sites and other weird places, you will get some nasties, eventually.
Another free program that I installed: UNCHECKY.
Very handy program recommended by PC Pit stop.
It automatically UNCHECKS the other crap you probably don't want or need when you download a program!
NEVER do the quick download.Always do the advanced version that allows you to see what's being installed.
You can uncheck the boxes manually, but UNCHECKY does that for you.
Smart.
I don't want another weather bot or Google Chrome installed with my program!
2 minutes to install a download and 20 minutes to take out the CRAP it sneaks in? NO!
Be very careful about what falls into your junk mail!
I was "hit" twice in as many months with RANSOME WARE.
Once with a site pretending to be Amazon.com and another from my "Employee savings plan".
I caught them both B-4 I opened them up and reported them to the FTC and the FBI!(Cyberware Division).
The most danger resulting in a virus is from YOU.
Be careful out there.
