New coin depicts Lady Liberty as African- American

I have a small type collection with various depictions of Lady Liberty, so news of a new coin depicting her as African American seemed right in my sights, but unfortunately it seems like it will come on only one denomination.
A $100 face value gold coin. As $50 gold coins sell for $1100, I'm guessing these will be at least double that.
I'm not a gold bug so I think I'm going to pass. Hopefully they come out with smaller coins, as well.
The new $100 coin to which billryan refers is a one-ounce 24K-gold commemorative. The standard 22K-gold American Eagle $50 coin comprises one-ounce of gold, mixed with 3% silver and the remainder copper.
The cost should be comparable.

What is your source to say they will be comparable in price?
The Mint currently sells Gold Eagles that are 22 karat and a Buffalo 24 karat gold. Both are $50 face coins.
As this new coin is $100, I don't see them being one ounce, as well. I don't think you can have three coins, two being $50, one being $100, all the same weight.
I hope it is. I'd love to add a $100 coin to my type set.

Just a guess, . . . they each contain an ounce of gold. The American Eagle adds a smidgen of silver and copper.

Regardless of what billryan thinks:
__The $50-dollar Buffalo comprise one ounce of 24 karat gold.
__The present $50 American Eagles weighs 1.0909 troy oz.. It is 91.67% Gold [i.e. 1 ounce], 3.0% Silver, & the balance Copper.
__The new $100 "diversity commemorative coins" comprises 1 ounce of 24 karat gold.

DoubleDee is correct. The new coins are one ounce. No explanation for why they aren't $50 face like the others.
Works for me. Just saved about$1200.
I'm holding out for the 1 ounce $500 gold coin.

Buy two of them!

I can't figure out recent Mint decisions. They are putting out gold coins with no face value, which technically makes them not coins, another that states $10, that's the same size as a $5 one. Now these. Five ounce coins priced at two and a half times the one ounce coins.
They are making some beautiful coins, but they are getting very inconsistent.

For some reason poor old DonDiego feels the need to record this rare phenomenon:
