New coin depicts Lady Liberty as African- American

Chicago's CBS affiliate did a short piece on the coin this evening. Later this year it will be followed by Asian, Hispanic and Indian versions.

I think I will wait for the Caitlyn Jenner version of the coin
I'm curious what they mean by Indian.
I do like the idea of showing Liberty in various forms, a reminder that no race or creed has a monopoly on it, although I doubt I will buy the whole series.

The Department of the Treasury statement on the theme of the new coin series clarifies:
"These coins will feature designs that depict an allegorical Liberty in a variety of contemporary forms including designs representing Asian-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, and Indian-Americans among others to reflect the cultural and ethnic diversity of the United States.?"

DonDiego opines the obverse will depict a classic Indian Maiden, . . . something like this:

Gold, and Caitlyn Jenner. Makes me weep.
You are right. We should have every type. I still am not ready for Caitlyn Jenner gold coin. Maybe in May.
They already have Native American coins. I think the Indian- American they refer to are from the Sub-Continent.

Well, . . . if that is so, . . . . what about the Irish-Americans ? ? ?

DonDiego demands an Irish-American US Gold Coin in the new diversity series, . . . including a pot o' gold and a jug of poteen or a pint of Guinness somewhere on the coin face.
Oh, . . . and a Polack coin too !
