The new health care law, how's it working??

I did put my 22 year old daughter back on my Employer's insurance. That was made available since the health care reform.
I do hope you feel better, chef. I've wondered where you've been lately....

Under the new healthcare law (which has not been fully implemented) you will be required to purchase health insurance. Perhaps you will find that an inconvenient expense given the fact you are unemployed ... but how does that compare to the expenses you have now from the hospital bills? Therein lies the point behind the "individual mandate" that Republicans suddenly think is unconstituional after sponcering and implementing bills that incorporated it in the past.

PS - If you lived in one of those awful communist countries like France or Canada your bill would be ZERO today. But since you live in the country with the greatest healthcare system on earth (according to the Republicans) you get stuck with a 6 figure bill. You and a million other people like you. I cant imagine why anyone would want to change that.
If this health plan is so good hell I don't understand it so I really can't say at this point? I would like to ask the question will our congressman and women enter the new program along with the other government elected officials take part in this program or will they keep what they have. I noticed that my local HMO coverage went up starting 1-1-11. If I go to a Specialists it went up from $75 per visit along with ER costs increased. That's nice it increased and my SS stayed the same (no increases). My scripts have increased to $20 generic. Obama wants to set politics aside and both partis work together starting now. Hell I thought that is what they were supposed to be doing already. That is do what is best for the American people.
PJ, in some of those countries in Europe, they have taxes up to 24%. Germany has a 23% VAT last I remember and this does not include any income taxes.

If you are unemployed you may be eligible for medicaid. I am suprised the hospital didn't resolve this issue beforehand

They tried however, I did not qualify for the program. (I am not disabled)

I did want to suddenly sprout a second personality.............

To me your issues are a prime example of why the health care reform that passed was inadequate. Bottom line in our system what happens to individuals who find themselves uninsured and sick is they eventually go see a bankruptcy attorney, and all their health care ends up being free.

Mail, I missed the "free" part by about $300.00 per month. There's a hospital sponsored program which uses the poverty level for the basis of who they would help or not. If I would have had to pay the entire $100,000.00, I would have had to file bankruptcy. At least they knocked off enough so I could make a good faith payment every month.
What I’d say is it is a corrupt system what they knocked off is probably what they were gouging you for, or in other words your bill now reflects what they would have charged the insurance company if you had insurance. If you want to stay enslaved to the medical profession to the tune of $300 a month plus whatever the doctors are charging you while you are unemployed that is you business, but I was just trying to offer some helpful advice.

Which bill was that, exactly, that the Republicans passed that violated the Commerce Clause by mandating commerce?
