New NHL team for Las Vegas? NHL expansion decision June 22

With the Raiders looking better than 50/50 of coming to Vegas and with a brand new state of the art arena, I predict the NHL will vote a new franchise for Vegas. I've got to be honest with you, Hockey is the equivalent of watching paint dry for me, although I hop on the bus when the L.A. Kings or the Anaheim Ducks make the playoffs.

I would have thought the NBA would have been the first professional franchise in LV because moving a basketball team is easier than moving a NFL team or an NHL team.

While the Las Vegas baseball team is technically a professional team, it isn't a regular MLB team.

If LV gets a new NHL team, I will have to go to at least one game (or is it a match?).

NHL Expansion decision...

Oh by the way. Does professional hockey have cheerleaders?
Well kinda. Sorry I don't know how to post a "live" link.

They have some big competition with Seattle, Houston, and a few Canadian cities including a second team in Toronto.

The problem with US expansion is either your city is going to go gaga for the NHL or just see it as a fun night out once a year. In Canada its always the former. The problem with Las Vegas is that most of its adult population is from somewhere else (like Tampa, Fl). Thse people tend to be patriotic to the teams from whence they came .... Its not a recipe for an engaged fan base.

The nba?????? In Vegas????? Remember the last time they played a meaningful game here????

BTW..... The St. Louis Blues DID have cheerleaders back in the late '70's early '80's. They were known as the "Blue's Angels". They were located in the south end of the old Arena (where my season tickets were located,). Here's the cover of an old "Goal" magazine with their picture.

Ice Hockey in the desert. Ironic.
No worse than playing hockey in San Jose in June.

Love the blonde on the top row, third from the left.
Am assuming they traded their boots for skates when they did their routines.
