I know it sounds obvious but when buying a phone, I would concentrate on its ability to carry out its intended purpose. I've been an AT&T customer going back to 1996 and lived through all the transitions. I had an iPhone up until 8 months ago. Frankly, for where I lived and traveled, the service sucked. Way too many dropped calls....a worst experience could only compare to the dawn of cellular service. After one too many dropped calls while I was sitting stationary at home, I had enough. I went out immediately and researched the Droid phones from Verizon and came up with the HTC Incredible.
The more I use this phone, the more I like it. Nonetheless, there are downsides compared to the iPhone; namely:
1. Battery life is poor. From a practical point of view, don't imagine going through a day of light to moderate phone/email use and not expect to be tethered to a charger of some sort before the day is out.
2. Apps- iPhone definitely has more apps but the Droid is catching up. It's noticeably improved over the last few months.
In hindsight, I think the iPhone under the Verizon network could be the best of both worlds but I'm a bit committed in the Droid direction to see if this is reality for at least another 1 1/2 years.
