NEW PHONE HELP (OT)

I have an HTC Eros droid phone that I got 2 years ago. It's ok, but I really wanted a Motorola Droid..but I'm cheap. It was a freebie, piggy backed off my son, who had a Blackberry Tour which he absolutely hated...decided it sucked and went for the Droid about 6 mos after he purchased the blackberry. Now that Verizon has the iphone, he's chomping at the bit until the 7th. He's 2 year committment is up then.

I won't get another HTC phone. One reason, the battery life sucks. Another, reason, I'll search some apps, and I can't get them, but my son can on his phone. Another, I have to charge it daily. It's locks up, alot, the Camera takes so so pics... Also, I'll be checking my messages and it goes to Facebook?? WTF. It is easy to read, light weight, but I will get another droid, next time a Motorola.

Oh yea, one more thing...this drives me nuts most of all. My phone only notifies me of a message ONE TIME. Then it has a "flash" on the cursor ball, that only flashes for like a minute. I miss calls all the time especially when I'm at work, or if my phone is not at my side. All my other phones would annoy me until I checked the message. I now know I miss that.

Doesw anyone know anything about the windows phone?
about as popular as a zune...
The Zune has been discontinued....

Most of the cool cats I know have a Droid phone.

I had the first generation Motorola Droid for about a year and half. It wasn't really a finished product until the Android update that occurred roughly a year into ownership. Then I got to enjoy the phone for about 4 months before it started going in the toilet. The first thing that happened was the proximity sensor quit which resulted in facial movements bringing a premature end to a lot of calls. Then dead spots started appearing in the screen over a couple of letters. Verizon was charging me $102 (with taxes) per-month for this phone. I wanted to use tethering, but that was an extra $30 bucks a month.

I purchased the LG Optimums V with Android I told others about here when it was on sale for $129.00. Now my monthly fees are $27 including taxes. That includes unlimited data and text plus 300 talk minutes. This phone does everything my other one did, and more as I added the tethering hack to it and now get that feature for free.

If I would have bought another Droid through Verizon it would have cost me a minimum of $132 a month for the same features plus $99-$399 upfront for the phone depending on the model. So roughly at least a $3,400 commitment over the next 24 months. AT&T is a nonstarter in any rural area is all they have is EDGE coverage, but they will still charge you the smart phone fees even though as a practical matter you can't use those features. In this economy it seems seems rather senseless to obligate yourself to pay $3400- $4000 over the course of the next two years to a phone company, but that is just my opinion.

Do you get to keep more than 10 contacts a year????

I had 11 and they told me I would have to pay more each month to keep it.
