You may already know this but the printer cost will be the least expensive part of the transaction, just check to make sure the toner-cartridge replacement costs will not make your choice regrettable.
We have an Epson Stylus NX430. I really liked it until I got new ink. After I replaced the cartridges there were parts of the page that stayed blank. Apparently I have clogged heads which usually are inside the ink cartridge but not on this printer. So, I'm supposed to take the heads off and clean them but it's probably not going to happen. It seems like we buy a new printer every year right before the science fair. I had high hopes that this one was going to last. To be fair, I will say that I bought the ink on Ebay so it could be a scam but their feed back was good from other customers that bought the same thing.
Have you tried reloading the driver software, or looking for an update online? I was gonna say Brother. When we moved for some reason our network went nutzo relative to the printer, but I have it back now. Depending on your needs, however you work it out I'd go b/w laser not inkjet. If I really need something in color I use our photo-grade Canon. That's about 1/2 of 1 percent of our output. Saving tons on ink.
