New Series - Surviving Vegas, A Buck At A Time

Thanks Area 51 for answering my questions. I am going to Las Vegas on Wednesday and I hope to see Cupid, Strawberry Shortcake, Gene Simmons and the Steelers Guy. I truly hope your show makes it to a cable network!
Aloha,
Jennifer

You need to make videos for you r kids when you start up in August. LOL Seriously, it would make an interesting topic for 2nd graders (without the obvious photos). But there is Superman and some others just to show them what the fringe has to offer us. Love the show 51.

I read a small article in the LVRJ and the person that makes the most money is the giy that rents out the costumes to the performers. He started renting them after changing his costume to try and get more tips. Funny thing is I could not be one of the costumed people but I would be more then willing to rent out costumes instead.
Well...I hate the theme music....but the interviews with the "characters" was quite fascinating!

I agree, the music is pretty annoying. I guess I'm in the minority, not a fan of it. I respect the reporting but I don't care for the subject matter, they're bums, plain simple they are BUMS. I have no respect for them at all. Now the homeless who live in the tunnels, I find them extremely interesting and I have a tremendous amount of sympathy for them.
The guy who plays an awesome instrument or the spray painters, those guys don't detract from the FSEXPERIENCE, they actually add something. Guys like cupid and all the freaks take away from the whoe thing. Me personally, I can live with them ,no problem, I'm not a DrM, but all I can think of are the people who shouldn't be subjected to that crap. I know Vegas is an adult town, but it doesn't change the fact that people do take their kids there.

Bad taste is bad taste, can't change that.
I agree Jatki...I am not a fan of them either, however this did put a human face on them.

Cupid is a mechanic...Gene has walking issues.....etc.
Here's my reaction to these "street performers".

Shortcake....I really don't know what to say about this. On one hand, I commend you for going out and trying to "earn a living" by doing this and not begging for money. To hear you complain about how much money you're not making, that's really your own fault. You really don't have a "talent" that would make me want to give you a couple bucks. There are thousands of women that could dress up like that and get out on the strip. I hear they're thinking about passing some laws limiting the amount of "street performers" and I'm sorry to say, people that just put on a costume and ask for money are the reason why. It's one step above begging. And as far as the "Cupid Guy" goes.... I think he costs you money in the long run. If I were to approach you and he came up and started "doing his thing", I would walk away in a heartbeat. I used to go to Vegas a lot. I did tip people that played an instrument, did magic tricks or told jokes. I've never given a single dollar to someone who just "dresses (or in some cases, undresses) up". Sorry.

Cupid.... Just stay away from me.... far away from me.

Steeler Nation.... There's only two kinds of people that love you routine. Steeler fans and people that hate the team you're trashing at the time they walk by. I comment you for putting so much effort into your act (buying all the other teams jerseys), but you're pissing off a lot of people that come by that might give you money if you switched things up a bit. You seem like you're a smart, talented guy. Come up with a different act and you might make a lot more money.

Kiss Guy.... If I were a Kiss fan (I like the music, I'm just not the Kiss Army type) I'd get my picture taken with you every time I was in Vegas. You really put a lot of effort into your act. Makeup, costume and your mannerisms make the "show" complete. Out of the four videos I watched, you should make the most money by far.

Over all, I would give these videos a "C" grade. The interviews with these people were good but only one guy (The Kiss Guy) I really watched all the way through. The next set you do, get some of the performers that have a real talent. Something like this might just be the break some of these people need to make it big in Vegas.

@bjammin65 - We tried to find the guys who rent these costumes. We got several leads, but never located them. Would definitely love to explore that angle in a Season 2!

@Blonde4ever - Thanks for the kind words and interest! Might I ask, what you don't care for with the song?

@jatki99 - I find it interesting that you would consider people living in tunnels more sympathetic than the street characters. We tried to include the street musicians and other performers, but these 4 were the first who agreed. Definitely would like to get more perspectives in a season 2!

@rayxtwo - Sorry you're not enjoying the videos. Giving a "c" grade, may I ask - is it the quality of the work? or the subject matter?

Thanks for all of your comments!
