Yes - it is REALLY crowded - and we will be there - again! Probably the most exciting and vibrant Vegas night of the year. Midnight absolutely rocks. Great place to view is between MGM Grand and NYNY
Usually the hotels advertise that you have to book multiple nights. I've heard that much of Las Vegas Blvd. is closed to car traffic, meaning people can walk in the street.

That may not work so well. You can't drive in because the strip is closed to traffic. Even if you got there before it closed, it would take hours to get out again. I really suggest you stay on the strip or downtown.
I have gone 8 yrs in arow..Expect 300,000 people on strip..Strip is closed from Riveria to Mandalay Bay 6:00p till 03:00..Lots of people..Great fireworks..Good time..
I'm glad that you folks enjoy it. For me, being on the Strip or Downtown on New Year's Eve is akin to Dante's 7th Circle of Hell. I get invited every year at the Four Queens and I never go. I spent it at Showboat about 20 years ago and that wasn't too bad. A remote place like GVR and RR would have potential for me. A bunch of drunken yahoos trying to grope (or rob) me at midnight is not the least bit appealing. It would take someone special to make me change my mind.
