New Years Eve

My wife and I will be in Las Vegas for New Year's Eve this year. We come to town 3-4 times every year, but have never been on 31st. I know the strip is closed down to traffic, but what should we expect? Is it too crazy to even venture into the street, or can you wander around and watch the crowd without getting trampled? Thanks
I've been doing it for 12 yrs..Where u stay is important..Strip is totally shut down..Early evening you can get around fairly well..The closer to midnite forget it, you can't move at all..It's a great time..Make sure ur near one of the hotels that sets off the fireworks, they are awesome..
Thanks. We will be staying at Harrah's...so in between CP, TI and the Venetian, which all are having fireworks, so I guess we should have a good view.
Hope you can take the cold, upper 20s by midnight with a chance of snow, brrrrrrrrrrr. Go in the middle of the strip where there not many trees, I did it and it was a blast. IMO do not go to a party the views are not good, Margaritaville party you could not see anything so we went into the middle of the strip.

Unless you already have reservations you can plan on eating your meals at Subway/McDonalds/other food court outlet - and even then you'll be waiting in line.
Fireworks in the snow could be cool.

After the crowds and fireworks, for a nice celebratory dinner:
Room Service.
No crowds, no lines, no whining toddlers at the next table, no frazzled wait staff.
Eat in your jammies (bottle of wine if you like), TV, zzzzzz.

PJ is correct, however, there may be a few available reservations at Restaurant Guy Savoy for $400 pp(early sitting) or $600pp for the late sitting. RAO’S NEW YEARS EVE 2015 is only $140 pp.

Emerils at The MGM is $90 pp. We ate there last NYE & it was excellent.

Actually, at this late date, I would opt for room service as O2bnVegas suggested.
