New York New York

I planning a small conference for late summer, and it looks like NYNY is going to be the site we choose. It's been about 5 years since I last stayed there, and it's been 3 years since I was in the Casino. I wanted to see if anyone could answer any questions for me about the property:

1) How are the guest rooms? Are they showing signs of wear?
2) What restaurants would you recommend? I've only eaten at Il Fornaio, and it was above average, but I was wondering about the others on site
3) For rooms, how many floors high do you need to be to not hear the Roller Coaster?
4) Hows the VP selection? I usually play DDB.

Thanks, TylerH50
Hello Tyler,
NYNY was the first place I stayed back in October 2009 for our honeymoon. I am now divorced, but NYNY didn't have anything to do with it Anyway, on to my experience.

I like NYNY. Lot's of places to eat and has a decent casino. The deli on the corner of the boardwalk (I think it's called Gruegals or Brugels, I forgot) is the frigging bomb!! Awesome sandwiches at a decent price. Il Fornaio is pretty ok. They also have a Il Fornaio Panettaria which is awesome for coffee and desserts. I think they make sanwhiches there as well. HagenDaz is really good too for ice cream.

As far as staying there, the room we had was crap. We were on the 27th floor I believe, in a basic room. It was non smoking, but smelled like smoke real bad. Heard the rollercoaster and the screaming all night long! We were facing the west, no strip view. There is a huge drop there on the rollercoaster track, hence all the screaming. I would opt for a Park Place view room. That way you will be facing the east (strip view). Never been in a Park Place room, but my sister stayed there last year with her boyfriend. She said it was very decent and no rollercoaster noise, nor any smoke smell.

I still like NYNY as it was my first Vegas experience. I would never stay in a basic room there ever again though. Good luck, hope this helps.
1) How are the guest rooms? Are they showing signs of wear?
- Shitty. Small. Overpriced. Noisy.

2) What restaurants would you recommend? I've only eaten at Il Fornaio, and it was above average, but I was wondering about the others on site
- I'll second your IL Fornaio recommendation.
- Chin CHin is their Chinese restaurant which is nice. Think PF Changs only maybe a little better.
- They have some sor of Irish Pub which looked like fun. Did not try it. The atmosphere looked neat though.

3) For rooms, how many floors high do you need to be to not hear the Roller Coaster?
- Dont know.

4) Hows the VP selection? I usually play DDB.
Not great unless you are playing dollar machines. There used to be a bank near the front entrance that had decent 9/6 JOB at the quarter level. That was over one year ago when I visited..
