Did anyone see it? I did (part of it anyway).
What a farce. They might as well switch to a flag-football format. Even NFL Commissioner Goodell was furious and has suggested doing away with the game if the quality doesn't improve.
I understand the players desire to avoid injury in an essentially meaningless game, but c'mon, man, if it's that meaningless to you, then why play at all? They don't have to play like it's the Super Bowl, but a good lick once in a while would be nice.
Maybe the NFL could provide insurance so that if a player suffers a career-ending injury, they would be paid the equivalent of what they would have made over their career but for the injury, and career-ending injuries are very, very rare even in games where the players are going all out.
Even back in the day when the Super Bowl champs played the College All-Stars, the games were ten times more intense, since neither the pros or the college all-stars wanted to be embarassed.
C'MON, MAN!
