You just can't make a sensible case for owning an assault rifle! Same thing holds true for high capacity clips for automatic hand guns.
I am the first to agree that its the person behind the weapon that does the killing. However, in the cases of these horrible mass murder attacks, if the gunman didn't have access to such high rate of fire weaponry, there would have been a much better chance of someone being able to stop him sooner and thereby saving more lives.
I'm sure we can all agree that especially in this last instance saving just one more of these young lives would be worth any price.
Think about it a minute. Do YOU need an assault rifle to prove YOUR manhood to the world? I say to the NRA and everyone else NO. I can protect my family with common sense and one good Smith & Wesson. I don't need anything more powerful than that. That's what we have Marines for.
Again, assault weapons have been illegal in the US since 1934. So have cocaine, prostitution, and since 1937 marijuana Oh, murder is also illegal.
