No Humor Today, Only Fire

I live in Monument, Colorado, five miles north of Colorado Springs and 10 miles northwest of Black Forest. I took this photo of the growing Black Forest fire a couple days ago on my way home from work:



Over 30,000 people have evacuated the 55-square-mile affected area around the fire. Our house is not in the mandatory evacuation zone, but it may be soon. Don’t worry about us. We have the important things packed and ready to go, including Newman and his dog bowl. In a wonderfully sweet gesture, Lori packed my collection of 500+ casino chips!

Please stay safe. I lived in Wyoming for 8 years and although I haven't had to be evacuated I know how difficult it is to go through. Praying for you and your family as well as everyone else in the line of this fire.

Stay safe and head to the nearest casino.
Maybe you can smoke 'em at the tables.

Nice pun! Actually, heading to the casinos in Blackhawk, CO (80 miles away) was an option that we considered. A couple hotels there lifted the normal ban on pets due to the large number of evacuees. A great gesture on their part.

We had light winds and some rain today. It's not over, but we are breathing a little easier at home.

Heed the warnings as you're doing and you'll all be secure. It's the dimwits who think they know more than the authorities who bite the dust. Just Mother Nature's way of punishing the state for allowing the fool potheads to smoke grass and the homos to marry. But it'll pass.

It's a political view. The moderator has asked me not to post anymore about that subject, and since I didn't know it was frowned upon by management because of some of the other threads I read prior, I won't mention my politics any more. The best way is to just wait and see how the whole thing works its way through it all anyway.
