Noooooo....Don't do it!

"a remodel of the casino floor" at Binion's.

Well, if they keep the same "feel" of the place I guess it would be OK. The layout at present is pretty bad.

I have great emotional ties to Binion's. When I was 19 years old I went to watch my grandfather play in the World Series there (he didn't do so good). Before and after the tourny he cleaned up playing Gin and Canasta (of all games) in several rooms upstairs. He even fronted me in several medium stakes Backgammon games where I did pretty well and caught the gambling bug.
A couple of years later it was the first real casino I played at. 25 cent craps and dollar blackjack.

I still like the decor of the place.

I was scared that the Golden Gate would lose that 'old Vegas' feel when they remodeled but I like it. So, maybee Binion's will be OK.
Binion's has also announced plans to remodel and reopen the hotel. Another tangible sign of ongoing downtown revitalization.
Borrowing cost are as low as they will probably ever be. If you have a remodel or build NOW IS THE TIME.

Not sure just how much longer these rates are going to stay this low.

Has there been an official announcement or is it just conjecture at this point?

That's a very good question. I heard it on Five Hundy and decided to believe it. But, it may only be a rumor. (I probably shouldn't post anything so early in the morning before I have my coffee.)
Still feels like you're walking through a walk opening into The Mint.
