DonDiego recently escaped death from above when the Upper Atmospheric Research Satellite (UARS) fell to Earth.
Now another satellite is aiming at poor old DonDiego as its orbit inexorably decays.
The German ROSAT (short for Röntgensatellit - a German word translated as "Appalachia is doomed") orbiting x-ray telescope "weighing nearly three tons has spun out of control and is plummeting homewards."
DonDiego finds the phrases "three tons" and "out of control" disquieting when he reads them in the same sentence!

But it gets worse:
"The German Aerospace Center has warned that 30 'individual pieces weighing a total of 1.6 tons may reach the surface of the Earth'.
ROSAT’s heat-resistant mirror in particular may not burn up upon re-entry and falling debris may include razor-sharp shards."
Hmm, . . . "razor-sharp shards" heading earthward at 17,000-miles-an-hour. And DonDiego resides on an exposed ridge with a wooden roof.
DonDiego wishes everyone well, . . . and hopes most LVA posters survive unscathed.
