NYE in NYC the $$$

The cost for some chain restaurants in NYC for NYE.

Times Square's restaurants are shamelessly cashing in for New Year's Eve
Boiler holds no animosity towards anyone attempting to maximize profits. I also won't be spending that sort of money to celebrate.

I"m not seeing the extreme cost. Seems like a decent deal to me. Comes out to about $600 a person on NYE in Times Square. Compare this to table service at a nice club in Vegas. You get bottle service or open bar, a warm place to sit, bathroom access, food, VIP status, etc. My wife had NYE at Times Square on her bucket list but crossed it off after realizing she doesn't like large crowds like that. We're staying home this year.
The LVA Community needn't be concerned.

Poor old DonDiego is quite likely to be sound asleep well before 24:00 hours on 31 December 2015.

He expects the orbital mechanics which determine the occasion of New Years Eve will result in his being sound asleep one day later than this year well before 24:00 hours on 31 December 2016 as well; it is bothersome that a complete orbit of Sol does not come out even, but is about 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 46 seconds.

Currently staying at the Andaz 5th Ave. Saw the Book of Mormon today. Hilarious. Serious amount of people and police everywhere. Ate dinner at the Shake Shack at Grand Central Station. We will not be heading to Times Square tomorrow. Have a delicious bottle of Coyam Emiliana Red Blend for the in room festivities tomorrow. Happy New Year.
$800 to sit in a Bubba Gump Shrimp to watch a glass ball drop with a million people. I could find better ways of spending that kind of money.

The 2011 Coyam Emiliana should be approaching its peak about now.

I didn't see it that extreme either really. Food, drinks and all the perks Snidely mentioned isn't that bad. It's outta my wheelhouse plus I have no desire to hang in huge crowds like that, but in our younger days...
Manhattan has always been overpriced for NYE celebrations. Years ago the future Mrs Hoops & I went to see the ball drop. It was cold & drizzling, not a whole lot of fun.

Now you have to be inside the "zone" by about 5pm. The police then close it off. Garbage cans, mailboxes etc are removed a day or two before. Vehicles must be removed or they will be towed. I think you can leave the zone but you can't come back in. One must have strong kidneys.

Because of rules like this, that is why these restaurants are so expensive.
But you get a warm place to sit as one of the perks for spending $800pp!
