I'll bet that survey is about as random as the one alanleroy posted.

Funny. From a guy who has pulled out his box of crayons in the past, too rich.

I fully believe Alans poll he posted, it's from the military times. Much more dependable than you and your crayons. Do you want to draw up an opposing poll, I'd like to see it. Hell even post an opposing poll that shows how much the folks in uniform love Obama, I'll bet you can't.

Anyway, I know you're just pulling shit outta your ass and its getting pretty pathetic. Why don't you throw in some fox news and Koch brothers references, it would improve your stance and make you look a little less pathetic, not much, but a little.

Now it may be time to call you a liar. Can you name one time I have ever faked statistics? Any specifics? You can't?

Liar.

15% in a random scientific poll? I'll give you a hint - I don't believe that for a second.

I notice you didn't answer the questions, so why don't you put on your big boy pants and do so. Was that a random scientific poll?

And my first hint that it wasn't was that you posted it.

See what I mean about the political hack? There's no reason to believe that poll....other than the fact that it is an Annual Survey of almost 2,300 active-duty service members by a highly respected publication which was cited by other major news organizations like:

CNN
https://www.cnn.com/2014/12/22/politics/obama-military-low-approval-rating/

USA Today
https://www.usatoday.com/story/theoval/2014/12/22/obama-military-times-survey-low-approval-ratings/20759451/

Christian Science Monitor
https://www.csmonitor.com/USA/USA-Update/2014/1222/Obama-s-popularity-falls-to-record-low-among-US-troops.-Why-video

Now, it is a VOLUNTARY poll of ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY MEMBERS and not a random poll. Even if you don't believe the 15% approval, since it is the same methodology for a decade, the trend line of crashing support is undeniable. 15% pretty much tracks with the unscientific non-random active duty military members I've surveyed.

Obama’s approval rating crashes among troops, rises with public

President Barack Obama was never the most popular commander-in-chief among the military, but a new poll shows his support has all but cratered. Meanwhile, his general approval rating moved upwards among the public, but still remained below 50 percent.

according to a new poll conducted by the Military Times, only 15 percent of active-duty service members approve of President Obama’s performance as commander-in-chief. That’s quite the drop from 35 percent in 2009. Meanwhile, 55 percent of respondents said they disapproved, up from 40 percent in the same time span.

The numbers were tabulated after the Military Times asked approximately 2,300 service members to submit their opinions on the president.

Obama Support among Military Plummets to 15 Percent

For the last nine years, the Military Times newspaper has surveyed an average of 2,300 active-duty service members. Their latest poll has just been released and concludes that “Obama’s popularity — never high to begin with — has crumbled, falling from 35 percent in 2009 to just 15 percent this year, while his disapproval ratings have increased to 55 percent from 40 percent over that time.” Much of the opposition to Obama has come from military members who believe he has been an inconsistent and flawed leader in foreign policy — for example, his 2011 removal of all troops in Iraq helped lead to the rise of the Islamic State, which then required a new U.S. intervention in the region. But some of the resistance comes from those who see his moves to change the military’s culture as “heavy-handed social engineering that erode deep-seated traditions and potentially undermine good order and discipline.”

Poll: Obama’s Support Among Military Craters

From the wash post no less.

It didn't take much of a google search to confirm that Obamas popularity(or lack thereof) is miserable.

From Military Tmes

From July 8 through Aug. 7, Military Times conducted a voluntary, confidential survey of readers, including active-duty, National Guard and reserve component service members as well as military veterans, retirees and spouses.

About 70,000 subscribers received email invitations to participate. Others were recruited via social media. In total, about 10,000 respondents completed the survey, including 2,299 who identified themselves as current active-duty personnel.

The sample is not a perfect representation of the military as a whole; it over-represents soldiers, officers and noncommissioned officers, and under-represents junior enlisted personnel. However, it is representative of the more senior and career-oriented members of the force who run the military's day-to-day operations and carry out its policies.

After the survey's completion, Military Times reporters spent several months interviewing dozens of active-duty survey respondents, speaking with them in detail about their views on military life today. In some instances, service members asked not to be identified so they could speak more candidly about military policy, senior leaders and political views.

Military Times has conducted a similar survey routinely for the past 10 years. Survey data cited from years prior to 2014 are based on those survey results. This is the only long-term, independent tracking survey of its kind.

The voluntary nature of the survey, the dependence on e-mail and the characteristics of Military Times readers may affect the results. Statistical margins of error commonly reported in opinion surveys that use random sampling can't be calculated for this survey.

So maybe we can safely say it appears that very small percent of 'senior and career-oriented members of the force' approve of the President's handling his role as Commander In Chief. That's even worse. Those steadfast supporters of the US Military like Forkush and PJ should be outraged.

  • The Military Times admitted that the poll was NOT scientific.
  • The Military Times admitted that it was NOT a poll of the "US Military" like you claimed.

So there's that. Of course if you had just said that it was a non-scientific poll of non-randomized, self-selected participants drawn from a tiny subset of our troops who subscribe to a particular magazine, then you would have been telling the truth. And you know alanleroy, it's not too late to come clean.
  • I'm just curious. With Forkie's argument, does he believe that the percentage of military who supports Obama is something like 50% or greater? I haven't seen him put anything forward to really refute the poll.

Oh, like how people who call in to talk radio are are a really good representation of the general population? Yeah, I thought that's what it meant. Self-selection bias sucks.
