He's singing the praises of a convicted Traitor who preached the ideology of Karl Marx. What's extremist about that? Next thing you know Comrade Forkie will be telling us all the ways Stalin was just like Kennedy.
Think Venezuela, Cuba, and Russia. Those places aren't working so well for the common man, are they? The theory looks good on paper, yet it gets crushed in practice...............just like the commoners do.

I can understand how some of those stands might seem radical to a right-winger.

Next thing you know Forkush is going to argue that a person who characterizes himself as a 'socialist' and has a picture of Eugene V. Debs, the Socialist Party presidential candidate of the early 20th century hanging in his office is a new 'Centrist'. Oh wait a minute...he already did. You can't make this shit up. I do think those Democrat Presidential debates will be interesting with Bernie in there. At least he has no fear of press interviews unlike the other Democrat. Clearly the most 'radical liberal' member of congress...and does forkush label him as an 'Extremist'.....Nope. He reserves those words for men like John McCain. In his fantasy world, John McCain is an Extremist and Sanders is a Centrist. I think most people can see right through that.
Ooh, scarrrry word alert: socialist. Of course the turn of the century socialists that Bernie and I admire advocated things like workers rights, child labor laws, a federal income tax, women's suffrage, civil rights, social security, national health insurance, unemployment insurance, safe food and drug laws, and higher education for the non-wealthy. Yeah, no wonder right-winger like you think that's radical.

On the other hand, the last Republican president wanted to privatize Social Security and to change the US Constitution to make gay marriage illegal. The current leader in the Republican presidential polls wants to change the Constitution to eliminate birthright citizenship and doesn't believe in the right of citizens to peaceably assemble. All of the potential Republican candidates would all be opposed to Reagan when it comes to gun safety, immigration reform, and any kind of tax increases to strengthen Social Security. A few of them would insist that our judges and lawmakers use Christian principles to make decisions, and good luck finding any of them who would say that they believe in the separation of church and state - again like Reagan.

Oh, but Bernie admires the guy who wanted child labor laws in 1900. Radical!

The Nordic countries do much better than the US, when it comes to health, life expectancy, education, infant mortality, upward mobility, and poverty. Especially upward mobility. If you're poor and you want to live the American dream - move to Denmark.

Yeah, he made public speeches against World War I, like Emma Goldman and Helen Keller. So alanleroy, it's no coincidence that one of your sources on this thread wanted to prosecute those of us who were smart enough to protest the Iraq war. That's the kind of America you want to live in, isn't it?

In which case, you're in luck! The leading GOP candidate for president at the moment tried to criminalize public protests in Wisconsin. Talk about a radical extremist.

I would characterize myself as a proud socialist. Socialism is not Communism. There is nothing radical about wanting to put people first rather than corporations. I have read the Constitution 1000s of times and there is no mention of "corporate rights" anywhere in it. Yet 80% of our court system's time and 80% of our legislative time is spent on working on issues for corporations. The only true traitors are the ones that have turned their back on the principals this nation was founded upon. The primary author of our Constitution thought that inherited wealth and corporations were the greatest evil facing this country. I think it would be good to go back to our roots in this regard.

Here is a little something by another socialist:
For I agree with you that there is a natural aristocracy among men. The grounds of this are virtue and talents.... There is also an artificial aristocracy founded on wealth and birth, without either virtue or talents... The artificial aristocracy is a mischievous ingredient in government, and provision should be made to prevent it's ascendancy. Thomas Jefferson

Dear stupid person,

I'm with Reagan on banning assault rifles, immigration reform (and issuing executive orders to prevent deportations), and separation of church and state. I'm with Mitt Romney, circa 2010, and Bob Dole on mandated national health insurance, and with Harry Truman on national health insurance also. I'm with President George W. Bush on immigration reform, and with 100% of the Republican Senators in 2004 on the need for a Voting Rights Act.

I'm with President Eisenhower on the need to fund colleges, limit the military-industrial complex, support labor unions, and preserve Social Security. And I'm with the old honorable John McCain, not the current dishonorable one, on immigration reform, campaign finance reform, and the belief that religious bigots like Jerry Falwell are bad for the America.

And I'm with the majority of US citizens on a whole raft of issues such as marriage equality, getting rid of the drug war, campaign finance reform, raising the minimum wage, and so on.

So which of the above beliefs do you find extremist? I can't wait to find out!

Of course you are a proud socialist...and I commend you for that. And forkie is too. Although not as proud as you. I hope you both hop on the Bandwagon for Bernie as he seems to best represent your views.

I like Bernie a lot and I support him in the primary. I am realistic though and don't think he has much of chance of winning so I will support the Democratic Party's nominee whomever that may be. However, I am delighted he is in the race as it will edge Hillary to the left and he will force the candidates to talk about the issues that are important to me.

You had me at 'force the candidates to talk'.....Having a socialist in the race might advance discussion on root causes of problems and core solutions. Then again, maybe not.
