Obamacare Assessments

No clue if I wrote this before. But several years ago, my husband was blindsided and lost his job of over ten years from a 9am phone call. Downsized. Send your computer and phone today. My mom did medical billing for ten years. Our insurance was cancelled effective that night at midnight. She had never heard of such plans. We are healthy, no kids and had appropriate "emergency funds" as people should. All that being said, the insurance offered by the government was $800 dollars a month. Mind you, this insurance is being offered because you were just left unemployed. Mind you, we are decently salaried people to begin with. But what sense does it makes to offer "guaranteed" insurance to tide you over, yet unemployment is only $1600 a month max and over half of that is health insurance. Go Obama. And I am the first person to not want government interference and subsidies. But these numbers just don't crunch and for sure do nothing for actual working people to sustain a time of transition. Ahh. Cobra that was the name of the plan. Couldn't remember. Again, in my world, people should manage funds to sustain themselves, but do live in a semi realistic world that life does happen and some people have bad circumstances and health, etc.

That also being said, it was a thought to ponder when a foreign person just could not grasp why our jobs had anything to do with our medical insurance. As with house and auto, we should not depend on our work as to what plans we have.

All that aside, I have also been fortunate to always have good company plans and since obamacare for he first time ever, my dental plan does not cover two free cleanings a year....again as a working person. And all the plans have extremely high deductibles that cover nothing until thousands are paid. So basically an antibiotic is going to cost nearly $500 for an appointment and script.

So that pretty much sums up my view on Obama and Hillary care. Nada. Nil. Nothing. That is how much they care for anyone who actually holds a job.
So a person in their late 50's living off savings of $500,000 (with $10K of W2 income working at Walmart part time) could get their medical insurance FOR FREE through government subsidies and additional government payments through EARNED INCOME CREDIT.

What a great and "fair" system we have!

Had a case of that the other day. Treated it with Imodium. I don't think it's covered by Obamacare.
Liberals are unable to grasp this concept. How about those who receive benefits pay for those benefits?

With all the government pays for, your complaint is with keeping people healthy?
Let's finance wars, pay corporations not to grow crops, reward dicks for losing 954 million in a market turnaround yet heaven forbid we spend money to keep people well.
But I'm the one whose priorities are screwed up.

My complaint isn't that the government is paying for actual health care (not their drug addictions and er visits), but that as a working person they aren't paying for mine.....or more so, let me have a reasonably priced plan that has actual coverage so that when and if I do have a medical need I do not become broke and homeless and on government assistance. It is about to the point where everyone has to stop working because it is a zero gain situation...and we make decent money. I do understand why these people refuse to work. It isn't in their best interest.

My favorite story of all time. I once volunteered at a teen homeless shelter. Three girls came in with their two children each to hang out at this basically free social club. I think maybe two people that ever came there were really homeless. They had a computer lab, cooked dinner nightly, showers and beds that I never saw anyone use and a closet to take food and clothes from. So these three girls came in daily. One day, one of them bring with them some chicken wings with them because they "sounded good". This is what government money and volunteer agencies are funding. No. I don't volunteer anymore either. Tired of my money and time being handed to people. I would definitely pay to send our "poor" on a little field trip to see what poor is in a third world country. That is a program I would definitely support. If it wasn't inferred, they lived in government funded apartments down the street and had food stamps and daily came to get even more free stuff from the "helping agencies". You could come to this place until your 22 birthday.
