For 2016. My premiums are going up 8.9% My deductible increased $1000. My out of pocket Max increased $1000. My 'cost share' for tests, emergency visits, and drugs increased from 30% to 100%. It sure seems like I'm spending more and getting less.

obamacare didn't do anything to reduce the cost drivers. It forced the insurance companies to cover more things which only serves to increase insurance company costs. It didn't address the issue of malpractice suits. Doctors are afraid to be sued so they order needless tests to protect themselves. I once had an MRI for bursitis, because the doctor thought there was a slim chance of a torn ligament.

The biggest cost is end of life care. Something like 30% of total health costs are from less than 5% of the population. Big moral issue but it is a huge part of the costs.

Without addressing these problems US health costs are doomed to grow.

Hey gang, for once there's actually a casino connection to this story!

A few years ago a couple of Indian tribes wanted to prevent other tribes from being allowed to build casinos. So they paid Jack Abramoff to fix things, and Abramoff subsequently went to prison for that and some other stuff.

And who helped launder Jack's illegal loot? Americans for Tax Reform! Which DonDiego considers a reliable source.
