The C. diff is a hardy and aggressive bacterium and the probiotics are too weak to push it out.
If you are late with your probiotics or the C. diff sets up shop first, the infection is pretty bad. Antibiotics knock down the C. diff and the good bacteria. The C. diff comes back.
