Ohio Man Wins Almost 500,000 At Vegas Airport

I bet he missed his flight.

Those are my favorite stories. There was one a few years ago about a flight attendant who hit the WOF progressive in the airport.

They say you shouldn't touch the slots at McCarren but you get a fair share of stories like these....I guess it falls under the law of large numbers. But maybe McCarren isn't as awful as its reputation.

My mom's flight got delayed and she hit $300 on Wolf Run in the terminal. Probably the happiest delayed person in the airport.
In the week or so after 9-11, all flights in or out of McCarren were canceled, but there was a substantial amount of slot play going on. Turned out that the slots were owned by Jackie G. and were known to the locals to be pretty loose.
I'm not sure who owns them today or if it is still the case.
I thought airport slots were supposed to be set extra tight.

The VP schedules definitely are. That's usually how I measure slots in the same room - but its not exactly scientific.
Most people assume they are. I really don't know one way or the other, I just recall the story about locals playing there. Now, back then a lot of casinos didn't have players cards for slots, so it was a different world.
Wizard of Odds evidently hasn't updated its slot survey at McCarren in over twenty years so that's not very helpful.
There do seem to be some nice hits there., but I don't play there myself.
I've had some fairly regular decent smaller under $100 hits there. My dad once hit quads on a VP poker machine for $250.
It's not as bad as its rep. Made $20 on a hangover2 (only place I saw it) there after about 5 minutes of play
Speaking as a VP player, the airport machines suck. Bad paytables. Plus I have a hard time bringing myself to play when I have no club card in to track it
In the fall of 2001, they were doing a secondary security check just before you got on your plane.
I was taking a red eye and was playing a WOF machine near the gate. I got lost in the game and suddenly hear them calling my name to report for an immediate departure. I don't have time to change my money so I stuff about $18 in quarters in my pocket and head to security where they tell me my belt buckle is too large and can't go on the plane. Now it was the same buckle I flew out with and had cleared security a half hour before. I'm pissed and start arguing with the agent. It's okay to bring all these coins on, but not a belt buckle? He says- what are you going to do, throw quarters at people? Without thinking, I say - have you ever seen the damage someone with a roll of quarters in a sock can do? Just as I say it, I realize I'm probably not getting on this plane. Some supervisor type comes over, examines my belt and tells me next time to put it in my checked luggage and lets me through.

Gees Billryan, what kind of buckle was it? I have a couple of trophy buckles that I rarely (if ever) wear anymore, would they let me on a commercial flight with one? They are the size of a compact hubcap.
