Ok last MLife topic/questions

I'm trying to make sure I understand this.

I am currently not an MLife member. I'm thinking one of those properties would be great to stay at when we go down next March to take my daughter for her 21st.

I may sign up, go down in three weeks to a property to establish myself there.

But my understanding is that my tier status resets every October 1st. So I guess my questions are these:

If I go down and stay at, for example, Monte Carlo, I will ONLY receive offers from THAT casino, correct? I understand that my Mylife account is linked with multiple hotels and I can use points at all of them but as far as getting offers that would only be from the place I stayed, right?

Is there any sort of promotion I should be aware of when signing up for MLife? I thought in a different thread someone mentioned a spring promotion.

Thanks all

C

What do you think is the best VALUE Mlife property? I don't mean the cheapest, just the best combination of nice rooms, nice pool, eating and drinking options.
MLife or CET? Both seem to have high mid and low end properties. Is one more......"rewarding"?

Hmmmm, the Jubilee tower of Bally's has gotten a lot of great recent reviews, and it's a great location.

Also, it cracks me up that some TripAdvisor reviewers will hate a hotel solely because they lost money gambling there.

Yes. The tier you earn by Sept. 30th is good through September 30th of 2017.

Not necessarily. You might get offers from some of the others.

Yes. Correct.

No, not necessarily.

You won't know about promotions until you have signed up for an mLife card (different from signing up for e-mails on the web site). You have to produce your ID when you get a players card. AND, you have to QUALIFY for that promotion through your play/tier level.
I get casino promotions every day in my mail box, but I'm at a high tier through years of playing in their casinos.
NOBODY knows what you might get for one visit of play, and I sure don't.

One recent happening is that some mLife properties are giving DOUBLE tier points during the last few months of their 'year' (e.g. July, August, September), because they do want people to keep (or raise) their tier status and not jump ship. This is a good thing if one wants to raise or keep their mLife status but needs to earn a few more points.

Your questions are REALLY hard to answer to your satisfaction.

Monte Carlo, Excaliber, and NYNY are what some would call "lower tier" properties.
They will be the easiest to get comps from at first unless you play a LOT.
And they are nice and your daughter would probably be happy at any place.
As I said before, I don't care for that end of the Strip. I prefer mid-Strip.

Bally's, which is in the CET system (not mLife) is not a bad choice.
I have stated my recommendation for PARIS.
Those two are connected by underground passage lined with cute shops and restaurants.
Paris is so iconic, meaning, SO VEGAS, and one of the few with remaining theme décor (the Eiffel Tower, the French signs such as Le Toillette, etc.

Now, if you can't get the idea out of your head to treat your daughter to that nice suite at South Point, just do that.

I wouldn't blame you.
She'll be impressed with the room, and one casino is about as good as another to play in for a newby.
You can take her sightseeing on the Strip and else where.
Since your SP suite is free, you can afford 1-4 hours of self parking at Aria or Bellagio if you have to. (or at a CET place...have they started charging yet?)

Or park at Monte Carlo (a little cheaper) and tram over to Aria and Bellagio at night so that she can see the Fountains and the Conservatory and the rest of mid-strip including Paris. I haven't heard when/if CET is instituting charges for parking. Don't choose based on mLife's new parking charges. It won't break you (I hope).
But it will be a loooonggg trek in and out of Monte Carlo to/from the tram. They stop running at some point in the evening, so be sure to check that.

Really! I've reversed my position...LOL.
Do the SP suite.
You are worrying too much about mLife and CET, at which you don't now and probably never will play significantly.

Give daughter (and all y'all) the SP suite treatment!
You won't do any better on the Strip.

Thanks for all those comments. I genuinely appreciate the time you took to answer those questions

My daughter just got back from a cruise with her boyfriend, his parents, and some other family members. His mom and dad took everyone as a graduation (teaching certificate) present for him. My daughter said that he gambled on the boat and she didn't like it because it stresses her out. She said "I don't ever see myself being a gambler". So that's something else to consider. When we go in March, I don't mind paying for shows and dinners and spa treatments and stuff like that but I won't give her gambling money (except maybe a $20 if we're sitting and playing video poker at a bar). If she's going to gamble she needs to feel what it's like to be winning and losing her OWN money.

Given that we're going to be there on a weekend, I also have to consider that she and her boyfriend (neither of whom will have a lot of gambling money) will be hard pressed to go on the strip and find low limit tables (he likes craps). Doesn't do a lot of good to stay at a fancy joint nobody can afford to gamble at.

My daughter's comment basically was, I just want to see everything there is to see, have some drinks, maybe a show. that's it. It's March so the pool likely won't be an option. So it'll be walking the strip and seeing the typical vegas virgin stuff.

I did book the "research" trip for next month. Likely going to stay at MSS and then spend a day on the strip checking out properties and maybe dropping a couple of bucks.

But yeah to be honest if I can get a 1500sqft suite for free at SP (a casino where they could actually afford to gamble), that's a lot of extra money I can spend on other things. I can pay for a nice car for the weekend and take everyone to the strip every morning. We'll see

Wise decision.
And, for cryin' out loud, why would you expect the purpose of this trip to be for her to "see what it feels like winning and losing with her OWN money"?
She already TOLD you it stressed her out watching her boyfriend gamble.
Leave it there, unless SHE decides she wasn't to put a few dollars in.

Some people (my husband being one of them) couldn't care less about gambling.
Feeding hard earned money into machines makes no sense to them.

You can't change that; it just isn't in their genetic makeup.

She has the right idea: Shows, spas, sightseeing (Hoover Dam is awesome); a happy 21st birthday drink at a nice bar (maybe Voodoo Lounge at sunset at Rio); go up in the Eiffel tower (elevator) one evening, catch a Bellagio fountain show from there. Catch a Volcano eruption at Mirage. For shows, she would probably enjoy LOVE, the Beatles themed show at Mirage. Or Mystere, the cirque show at TI. Mac King is a clean and entertaining afternoon show at Harrah's.

Can't wait for the TR!
I'm not sure how you got "the PURPOSE of this trip to be for her to see what it feels like winning and losing with her own money". The purpose of the trip is to have a good time, doing what SHE wants to do. For her, gambling is very very far down the list of what she wants to do. If she budgets $100 for herself to gamble with, I'd rather we were somewhere she could play more than 4 hands of blackjack with that amount. I think she'll be so much in awe of everything the gambling won't be much of an issue. I'll make her sit with me and play a little VP at a bar though. I'll probably lie to her and tell her I'm $50 ahead so she can play with my money.... :-)

That is so sweet of you!
I think Casino Royale has fairly low craps minimums on weekends. It's right next to Harrah's.
