Yes, in inter-regional play, I'm a Trojan like Homer here.
I don't think the SEC is overhyped, however. Some Pac teams have played well against the SEC in regular season games, but we've not done the job in the big game, and take away USCs recent titles (no pun intended), and we've not delivered as a conference; other bowl game success notwithstanding. And there's just no way ANY conference can run as deep as the SEC.
However, I do think the now-sadly-deceased-for-us practice of playing everyone in your conference was a better way to determine the conference champ. Conference play is just that, conference play. And way more times than punters would like to see intra-conference play leads to some crazy results.
I think Auburn last year was a two-trick pony that simply found ways to win, and didn't stack up to other SEC champs of late. But they won. They got the hardware. At least for now.
