Okay Ken, Best of thread just for you!

Yes, in inter-regional play, I'm a Trojan like Homer here.

I don't think the SEC is overhyped, however. Some Pac teams have played well against the SEC in regular season games, but we've not done the job in the big game, and take away USCs recent titles (no pun intended), and we've not delivered as a conference; other bowl game success notwithstanding. And there's just no way ANY conference can run as deep as the SEC.

However, I do think the now-sadly-deceased-for-us practice of playing everyone in your conference was a better way to determine the conference champ. Conference play is just that, conference play. And way more times than punters would like to see intra-conference play leads to some crazy results.

I think Auburn last year was a two-trick pony that simply found ways to win, and didn't stack up to other SEC champs of late. But they won. They got the hardware. At least for now.

surely contentious sports threads are allowed here, right?

Although Ken and I have our favorite Pac 10 (er Pac 12) teams, we will be brothers in arms in our hope that Oregon exploits how much the SEC is overhyped and overrated.

LOL.....is oregon playing Kentucky or Vanderbilt? no, they are playing LSU. and even though LSU's starting QB went to jail, the Ducks and their god-awful uniforms are no match for the evil genius of Less Miles

And Oregon isn't playing Tennessee, now is it? But we know how the Vols annual Pac play turns out, don't we?

Last I checked he wasn't in jail yet. And we lost our best DB for his own particular version of
"I'm an entitled prick."

Anyway, friend, care to wager a little something on the Big Game in the Big Whacky Stadium in Dallas?
I quit gambling, Ken

Because west coast schools, except Oregon, actually enforce academic standards. No chance for fielding an elite team.

Damn, another Oregon State grad.

Maybe last year and forever in the Big 10 then! Not now! The country refers to Nebraska as the BIG RED!

Will be a great game in Madison this year. Just not sure about our QB, staying healthy, being effective reading the defense and calling audibles. Hopefully he proves me wrong. Last year he developed the "deer in the headlights" look when defensive pressure came.

As we have teams jumping conferences it lead me to one belief. We are heading towards 4-5 super conferences that will have 16 teams each and a conference playoff game.

SEC will pick up Texas A&M which appears to be a done deal. Oklahoma, Missouri and Okie State will look to jump also. Not sure just what shakes down in the ACC?
Texas has it's way in most sports now in the Big12 but that is going to change when they are forced to find a conference that they can call "all the shots"!
Telling the BIg 12 to get F*cked is the best thing the Huskers have done.

Maybe Notre Dame and Texas can form their own conference?

No. That isn't good enough. You can still make a non-monetary bet.
Now, now, Homer, let's not make folks walk the walk. lol

'Pecker, I think Texas is gonna work mighty hard to shore things up in a hurry for just that reason. The superconferences are coming. Larry Scott is looking smarter and smarter.
I was going to attend ASU's season opener tonight. But my rickshaw driver is sidelined due to an excessive heat warning.
