I would avoid all MGM joints because of the paid parking, even if you end up getting it for free. so basically that leaves CET properties , or TI or Palms that I would consider. SLS and Westgate would be too far for a first-timer. how much damage can Stations do to the Palms between now and march 2017? ;-)

My very first Vegas hotel was the Stratosphere and I had a blast. Its cheap, high energy, lots of restaurants, shows, sites, and a decent pool. They always have good live music too.

Its the cheapest resort that still offers the full Vegas experience in one place. I always recommend it to budget conscious Vegas newbies.
