On a progressive would you hold just a "10" to draw the remaining cards?

I actually made the same mistakenly that long ago. Was dealt three deuces and a Royal Flush.
Woman playing next to me congratulated me and I said I was thinking of breaking it for the fourth deuce. She said not to, but I lost the Ace and hit the one in forty seven shot and got the deuce. $250 instead of $25. After congratulating me again, she burst me bubble by asking why I didn't lose two cards instead of one. That's when I realized just how badly I'd played it.
I made up for the thousands of plays I made correctly but got bad results.

So were you drunk or an Irishman or both (lol). Congrats BTW.

The only way he could get a Royal Flush was to either drop all 5 cards or drop the 4 deuces and hold the ten; he took the more prudent option.

Look closely...it was not a Deuces game, it was a DDB game.
And one I've never seen before, where the Royal progressive amounts were different for each of the four suits, the Heart RF being significantly higher than the other three suits.
- Hearts $1872.83
- Spades $1022.57
- Diamonds $1139.78
- Clubs $1037.73

I'd guess the player held the Heart 10 hoping the progressive on Heart RFs was ready to domino, which seems to be the case.

I don't hold 10s, and as far as I can remember I've never seen the other four pop up when I tossed a 10. I'll hold a singular Ace or face if the rest of the hand is trash. Don't know why I treat the 10 differently (toss it), other than drawing a second 10 wouldn't help much. At least a second Ace or face gives my money back.

But...thinking of the effect of a high progressive, I might re-think this in such a case.
Holding a single high card would be correct. Holding the ten with a K, a Q, or a J would be correct. With an A-10, you are better off holding the A alone.

If I had junk and a 10, I'd make the same play as the picture.
Why did you have to bring your junk into it?

it could be worse, he could have held his junk
Forky is right, the rest is just gambling, and I hope you all do it. Never hold a ten unless over $14000, and in most cases do not hold King -Ten with another elimination card.

Could've been worse than that, he might've posted a pic of him holding his junk
