Orleans vs South Point

I normally stay at the Orleans when I visit Vegas. I enjoy the variety of gambling, entertainment and food venues they offer. My next trip I'll be in Vegas 4 days and I was thinking of trying something different and splitting my stay (2 days Orleans / 2 days South Point). Both hotel/casinos seem similar and I was wondering how the South Point was in comparison to the Orleans. I primarily play video poker, slots and make quite a few bets in the sportsbook. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch !
We stay and play at both them a few times each year.

The rooms are a little larger and cleaner at the Southpoint.

Southpoint will give you a couple of fun books at check in (50 % off buffet; free drink; free nightlife entry; and a couple others). They have a great Motown show on Tuesday nights. If you buy a $10 VIP entry you get two free drinks during the show and a $5 freeplay voucher to use after the show. It's a great value and it assures your a seat, it usually becomes standing room only at one point.

The Orleans offers the free shuttle service to the strip and Gold Coast which is a great value when on vacation. They are also across the street from McMullans Irish Pub which offers a great daily happy hour.

We really enjoy both casinos but if pressed I would choose Southpoint.
The rooms are nicer at SP and they have an abundance of slant top VP machines (FP on DDB). The nicest thing about the Orleans is that they are the best of Boyd in Vegas and Boyd has alot more casinos to play at with the same card. The offers at the Orleans tend to be better too. Splitting your stay is a good idea.
South Point ! Bigger, nicer rooms. Tons of meal options. (as good or better than Orleans). VP schedules are VERY good. Good (cheap) entertainment options. BIG pool, spa, etc. Cinemas, bowling, bingo all good.
Great 75 cent hot dogs. Comps are generally good. In my opinion, way better value. Only downside is getting to the strip, if that's important. Even so, there is a shuttle ($8/day) or transit that works. I go to SP twice a year all. Wouldn't stay anywhere else.

I also stayed at both about 8 months ago. SP does have larger (but not that much nicer) rooms and especially the bathrooms. But it is a very boring warehouse type of a casino, with all bars having the same games and levels for their vp machines. Orleans has a much more exciting casino along with a slightly better location.
captain bill - have you ever stayed at the Sun Coast? They are another Boyd property and I think they are one of if not the best Boyd property in Vegas. I realize this posting of mine has nothing to do with either South Point or the Orleans, it is just my opinion of the Vegas Boyd properties.
DR, never stayed there, but have played in their casino several times (with FP) and have not been impressed with it. Lack of slant tops and very few FP $DDB machines. That said, I am about $2300 ahead there over the past 2 years. I had got the impression from numerous posts that their rooms were not anything special.
Cap'n: the rooms at Suncoast are virtually identical to the ones at SP. The one difference is that at SC they all have fridges.

The websites state:
Southpoint rooms are 500 sq. feet
Sun Coast rooms are 550 sq. feet
I give the nod to South Point. If you put in some VP play you are bound to get futue free room/free play mailers.
Not fond of the bedding at Orleans...too 'scratchy/rough" and pillows are not comfortable.
