I disagree.

You've forgotten that some of us are capable of thinking of others. That some of us have compassion for those who have less than we ourselves are fortunate to enjoy. That some of us can look beyond our own circumstances and gain an appreciation for how society as a whole is faring.

If your writings here are any indication, I think this self-centeredness, this selfish me-first myopia you exhibit here, likely explains much of what you similarly appear to believe.
Just simples question from a simple person.

If the Government takes over healthcare (so called single payer system)...who will pay the Hospital costs, the medical costs, the supplies, the equipment, the nurses, the doctors ?

How can the government reduce medical costs ?

Can the government come in and tell each nurse, drug company, doctor, medical supply company - that they have to reduces their charges by 50% ?, would you like the goverment to take over your business and tell you - "you now many 50% less" ?

Biggest issue is unhealthy people....would you like the government forcing you to stop drinking, stop smoking, lose weight, force you to stop eating meat, stop eating sweets ?

Right now Medicaid patients are the most unhealthy patients a general Doctor sees - and the taxpayer pays the costs, we area suck a giving society.
I think the biggest plus for the Obama program is that it requires everyone to have some form of medical insurance, and that will help to lower everyone's costs. and for those who dont qualify for regular insurance, then there would be "assigned risk pools" similar to auto insurance. the problem now is that underinsured people and people with no insurance are running to emergency rooms which are the most costly form of health care. case in point: the $1245 bill I got from an emergency room doctor in addition to the hospitals charges. my insurance company paid that emergency room doctor about $165 -- but that balance that the doctor billed me for (1245) is outrageous for the limited service that I got. and THAT is what the government should crack down on.

"I think the biggest plus for the Obama program is that it requires everyone to have some form of medical insurance,

Likely an unconstitutional provision

"If 70+% of Americans are satisfied with their medical care, by extension they have to be satisfied by the system that provides the care" "I disagree."

I guess the concept of majority rule means nothing to you. Again, if almost 80% of the population is happy with one system, should we gut that entire system to accomodate the 20%?

"If your writings here are any indication, I think this self-centeredness, this selfish me-first myopia you exhibit here, likely explains much of what you similarly appear to believe."

Before you make assumptions about people you should take the time to actually know the person

If 70+% of Americans are satisfied with their career choice, by extension they have to be satisfied with their paycheck and the boss that provides their pay.

You've provided no polls supporting that statement. Americans like their doctors, not the system. You realize this by now, but are playing dumb.

I made no assumptions. You didn't read my words.

I wrote:"If your writings here are any indication . . . ."

I don't know you. I only have your words in this forum to go by. And if your words any indication, you are as I describe.

President Obama campaigned hard on health care reform. Much of what he accomplished through the ACA was exactly what he campaigned on and was elected by a substantial margin to do. He's delivered. No one, most definitely including me, is thrilled by every aspect of ACA, which is the result of compromise. But it's unquestionably set our nation on a better, more affordable course, the ignorant slanders appearing from some ill-informed critics here notwithstanding.

You, of course are forgetting that a very large portion of the American population is entering retirement age. As you are well aware of, the older you get, the more stuff can go wrong with you and the more your medical bills will mount. It also seems like somebody's going to have to raise one hell of alot of money to pay for those new senior citizens and all of the other government programs. Including funding of Social Security and Medicare/Medicade. Tell your kids to say goobye to their paychecks as the government is going to take more and more until there is nothing left for them to live on.....

I've forgotten none of that. Nor has the President.

ACA's passage puts the nation in better position to meet the obligations we made to America's seniors when President Obama was a toddler.
