Out DonDiego's Window

It's been a mite cool and damp this Spring up heh' in Appalachia, . . . makin' fer' interesting' landscapes down off the ridge. But there's still interesting' visitors.

And lately they been a'comin' by in groups, like these heh' ladies.

Why traffic's so heavy poor old DonDiego's hadda put up a sign to protect 'em.

And jes' t'other day, a new visitor showed up out the window. He was putting' on a show for the object of his affections, who seemed a mite more interested in finding' seeds from off'n the bird feeder than him.

He was, indeed, a mighty handsome fellow. No wonder that Benjamin Franklin proposed the Turkey to be the National Bird.

Nice pics DD. Though I'm wondering if your recent visitor isn't a turkey farm escapee.
He looks Butterballish to me.
That bird is "hung", what a beard! He's gonna score with the ladies for sure.
Very cool and to think some consider this flyover country and opt for steel, glass and concrete out there windows.

Butterballish? I was thinking a mite more Jennie-o'ish.

Very nice thanks.
DD that is totally awesome. After 60 years in Florida we have grown tired of the heat and humidity I might just have to check out your neck of the woods.

Now I will leave you with one of my favorite Barry Goldwater quotes.

“Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”

teechur and DonDiego find the moderate 4 seasons pleasant. The mountains keep the Summers a mite cooler than for the flatlanders; the Winters are a bit too long, but still tolerable.

The seasonable birds add a lot to the environment; today teechur and DonDiego saw their first cedar waxwings and eastern kingbirds of the year.

About the awesome turkeys pictured:
i. They're around all year long, even traipsing through the snow.
ii. Apparently they are transgender and have taken The Obama's latest missive to heart; these birds "go" wherever they want to.
he does put on a nice show, but not my type. not even with all the fixins.
DD where's those deer at?
