outrageous flight prices!

" 'Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe,' Mr. [Steven] Chu, who directs the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California, in 2008."
Ref: Lubbock Avalanche-Journal

Mr. Chu is now the US Secretary of Energy.
It's working.
$150 RT? You're kidding, right? We regularly fly (30 days out) from CLE, CMH, ATL and MCO and the tickets have NEVER been below $375 or so. I'd just consider it part of the expense of gaming
And I thought it was bad when my direct round trips from Atlanta went up from $250 or less to $300 plus.
Yes,
for us regular travelers- JetBlue is the way to go if prices drop/// and prices do drop.
I check weekly

Spirit Airline from Fort Lauderdale to Las Vegas is currently $89.00 fare. PLUS $100.09 fuel charge. Plus taxes and fees, and other extras like checked baggage, carry on bag in overhead, etc.

dude.
Just checked my dates in july/aug per JetBlue
$330.00 to go
and
$279 to return

sucks a$$$$$$$
I believe over 30 million people fly annually to Vegas. With ticket prices at today's levels and rising daily, I expect to see a dramatic decrease in the number of passengers flying to Vegas. The airlines need to rethink their price gouging policies or they will end up like Vegas. I know for certain that the cost of airfare will lessen the number of future trips I will be taking to Vegas.
I booked last January for Oct 29-Nov 5 on USAiways vacations for 7 nights at $569 a person. It went up right afterwards to $723 and has not come down. That is the good thing about knowing your dates so far out. You can check everyday until you see the price you like.
Holy crap!!

I have to book a pair of RT tickets to Texas, for some time in July. I don't even want to check prices...I might shit myself!

Damnit!!

Just for a fun comparison, and because I am frugal with too much time on my hands, I visited the AAA fuel calculator. ( https://fuelcostcalculator.aaa.com/ )

From Fort Lauderdale to Las Vegas:

Round-Trip @ 30 mpg = 5150 miles, 171.6 Gallons Used, $635.00 Fuel Cost.

Round-Trip @ 40 mpg= 5150 Miles, 128.7 Gallons Used, $476.26 Fuel Cost.
