Packers favored by 2 for SB

They released the early line last night at Packers -2. I was somewhat shocked. I figured the Steelers were a solid 3.

Total was around 42.

Looks like my bet will be Steelers and the over.
That's a good bet on the Steelers - they should be favorites, clearly Packer Nation has swept across like a fever. As for the over..... both defenses are super-strong and teams usually come out conservative in the Superbowl. By my calcs, the over has hit 22 times and the under 21 (there was no number for Superbowl I). And there have been seven previous Super Bowls with a total of 50 or more and the ‘under’ has hit four of the seven times.

I'm not sure where you're getting the 42 from. The online books from USA Today show it around 46, right where it opened.

My morning newspaper says Packers - 2.5.
Its a clash of the two most obnoxious sets of fans in the NFL ! No sports bar will be safe.

I plan on showing up at BW3's with my universal remote and changing the channel to Matlock reruns every time a pass is thrown deep.

PJ, did you forget about Raider fans????

I am a long suffering Bears and Cubs fan, hopefully we'll make it one of these years! Will be in Vegas next week, will absolutely bet on the Steelers, they will crush the Packers in two weeks and that would make things alright for me.
It seems the original line started at Packers minus 1½ or even 1, and quickly moved to minus 2½ pretty much everywhere.

DonDiego says never underestimate the power of the fix:

Oh no, I am not questioning the total of 46. I was reading a blog yesterday that had the "possible" super bowl setup. Over and Unders are tough due to the fact of how many turnovers. Sometimes they lead to TD's and sometimes it is just a time burden for the overs.

Not sure where I stand on the 46. Gonna have to give that some deep thought. I could see a 28-21 happening. But that is why the we bet! good luck to you.
Yeah, but which team will win the coin flip?
Personally I hope the Packers win. I have no use for Worthlessburger.
