Paid Parking at MGM properties - go Uber

A $10 administrative fee will discourage these people and force them to other properties like the Wynn or Flamingo garages.

BUT!, what if I need a bowling ball? Those bean countin' bastards'
It seems its a sign of the times for casinos to be charging more and more in add-on fees. To be fair, my local casino (in New Zealand) charges for parking - and has since day one. VIP customers get it free. Other players club levels get a low set rate of about $5 for 12 hrs. Anyone without a players card pays $4-$6 per hour. I'm not in favour of casinos charging, especially in places like Las Vegas where there is a lot of competition, but ultimately it's the players who will decide if they tolerate it. Don't want to pay the fee? Don't park there. Don't like 6-5 blackjack? Don't play there. Simple maths.
In the meantime = people staying at Cosmo, will get the shaft.
They are surrounded by MGM properties - so I guess MGM people will park at Cosmo and walk.

Unless Cosmo starts to charge (of course they will).
THEN PH and Paris will "have" to charge to avoid all of the MGM people parking at their garage.

The only outliers will be Trump, TI, Venetian \ Palazzo and WynnCore.
Enough is enough. Goodbye MGM upon the start of charging a parking fee. If the other strip hotel/casinos follow suit...goodbye to them, too. Stations and other off-strip facilities will get my play.

The beauty of a free-market economy. No one is forcing anyone to pay for parking at MGM.
I don't go to any MGM properties on a regular basis, not for any particular reason, other than the fact that I avoid the strip as much as possible. but now I have a reason. thx MGM!
whatever happed to the days when the casinos would to anything to get you in their doors? it seems like now they will do anything and everything to make you NOT want to step foot in the darn places.

One would assume there are a lot of people parking at the MGM that are not gambling there. The MGM wants to make some money off them. From their perspective, how much are people that balk at spending $5 for parking going to spend it their casino?
My July trip is already booked and since I'm staying at the Signature Suites this won't affect me. Unless, nobody wants to rent cars anymore and those prices come down. I have done it without a car before but 8 days is a long time to be stuck on the strip.

They build a large arena without parking to accommodate the cars that people attending events in that arena. Stupid move number one. They decide to charge people for parking in their existing lots at their casino hotels $10 (not $5) a day, whether or not there are any large events at the arena, and whether or not the people wanting to use the lots are hotel guests. The parking charges also include valet parking. The MGM properties closest to the new arena are Mandalay Bay, Luxor, New York New York, MGM Grand and Monte Carlo. The charges will be screwing guests at all of those properties. Then think about someone wanting to visit one of those properties to eat at a favorite restaurant or see a show. I prefer to valet park on the strip when I have a rental car because it is convenient and I want to see folks like Frankie Rizzo working. If the casino is going to charge me $10 just to park, self or valet, I will think twice about adding $10 to the price of stopping at NYNY for a slice or two of pizza, and IF I did decide to go there anyway and valet park, the Frankie Rizzos who work at those properties should expect smaller tips. This is a dumbass move by MGM.

This move is corporate executive logic at its worst. It will financially hurt the people who work for them. They could have included parking garages dedicated to the new arena. Other properties close to the arena will be impacted with people who need parking places for their guests, so they will follow suit and charge for parking too. Cab and ride share companies will get a boost in their customer base, and rental car companies will see a drop in their customer base.
