Some would interpret blowing smoke out of your ass as a circus show type of talent and not an insult. I'll let Billy decide if it was a compliment or a shot.
We have been done with the strip for at least the last five years. We used to make it a point to go to the strip to at least visit the new, or updated, properties. Now the drive by on the way downtown is sufficient.

and . . . .

the smoke (or not) comment did produce an audible chuckle.
I've never gotten upset about Vegas casino paid parking. After all, the companies want to maximize profits, while gamblers want to have an expense free trip every time. Everyone is greedy on both sides of the equation.

What does piss me off while reading this article is the bull shit stories they tell us. I'm okay with being raped, but don't rape me and then turn around and tell me that we just made love. Do the math............a parking spot costs MGM $2.20 per day. Their bull shit stories is what pisses me off.

Article
Casinos offer shit pods, no problem
They bring in 6-5 BJ, no problem
They institute resort fees, no problem.
But they want to charge for parking thats the straw that breaks their back.
Maybe now they will finally figure out what intelligent gamblers did years ago- there is no reason to go to the strip.
Welcome to the 20th Century.

The only gridlock I'm aware of was for the opening of the arena where people flipped out over the $20 parking charge and the day of the marathon, where the issue had nothing to do with a parking fee.

I just have to laugh when you say "The only gridlock I'm aware of.." as if you are somehow the definitive word on the topic. Have you been going and parking in paid strip parking structures the last week, or are you blowing smoke out of your ass as usual?

Lets see. I watch the local news twice a day, no mention of problems beyond the two I mentioned.
I communicate several times a day with other APs, many of whom scavenge a game I don't play, that takes them in and out of strip casinos on an almost hourly basis. No mention of long waits getting in and out of garages. In addition to scavenging their particular game, they have also been gathering pearl level cards from the slot islands for weeks, if not months. Same thing with platinum cards at CTE. Multiple cards are needed because using a card to park triggers a visit.
Am I the definitive word,? Never claimed to be, but when part of your income is dependent on not getting caught in traffic, you learn pretty quickly how to gather and exchange such information.
Am I more informed on this subject than you? Without a doubt.

I would think this is really going to screw over the rental car companies... by the time you pay for the rental, gas, and parking you may find its cheaper to just take cabs and public transportation. I'm seriously considering doing a bus and monorail pass for my next trip.

I guess I'll wait and see if Tropicana follows suit with the parking.
Uber is giving away the house right now.
Rental prices remain high, but they can easily move cars between markets so its not like they will have inventory sitting around fallow.
I strongly suspect the vast majority of people who rent will just take it in stride. I'm not sure how many strip goers rent cars anyway. Anyone here on business with an expense account wont even notice it. If anything, it may increase brand loyalty as someone staying in MGM will be able to park free at all the MGMs. Imagine CET will do the same.

Did Billy just call me an "intelligent gambler"?

Something is amiss!
When the defense is we pay for this in every major city. The fact is with the gambling edge we have already overpaid for parking, etc. I do hope you understand these prices will not stagnate they will go up,and they will find more fees.
For me the issue is a quality of life. I play tourist and have company almost constantly. I like and moved here for the easy pace of life and "non big city" lifestyle. Any person going to the strip is paying big bucks some way or the other. An ice cream or bottle of water is ten bucks. Show and dinner are double or triple other places. And my gambling budget...ha. Much more than ten dollars. But now, my budget for their businesses. Zero. As well as my visitors that go where I take them and if not for me, they would be at their in state casinos.
