Parking

Nothing has changed. Their stock is still UP.

NOTE: SLS has the self park and Valet parking "included" in the resort fee amenities.
I remember when some of the first resort fees came out they said that the parking and valet was part of the fees, even though it was free parking to all of the public.

MGM Resorts hired a company to take over the parking and valet operation. Valets were allowed to transfer over to the new company. I now have heard there is an overwhelming vote by valets to unionize.

WHAAT? You don't like downtown?

Reasonable room rates, easy to get around and the next casino is not 1/4 mile away!
Cheaper(Not as good food),some have no resort fees(Boyd's) and there is a FSE show every hour.
WAY better odds downtown. 6 for 5(Natural)for BJ on the strip. No way.
I come to 'Vegas to gamble. Why gamble on the strip?

Not so many high-end shows,granted.
There is a canopy to shield you from the UV rays and walking 3.3 miles is the entire downtown experience.
Parking? You don't need a rental car.

It's less expensive downtown, all the way around.
I wear jeans and a t-shirt and I feel
at home there.
Yeah, less CLASS. I don't even own a suit.

That's why they make chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Not everyone has to like the same things.
I know of one Las Vegas local who absolutely hates the new parking fees at the MGM properties. Al Mancini is a Las Vegas food and entertainment critic. He prefers valet parking, which is not included in either the locals free self parking (at least for a few months) or the less-than-one-hour free self parking. Having to pay almost $60 (before tips) to valet park for three stops in a day to do his job really pisses him off!

Anyone with a Nevada license doesn't pay to park. If he's a local resident and doesn't have a Nevada license, he's in violation of the law. The poor guy has to self park in order to do his job. What a shame. If he's paying $180 a day to valet at three spots, he's an idiot. He could park at Harrahs and Uber it for $50.

Anyone with a Nevada license has to pay for valet parking, which is totally screwing parking valets as well as those using valet parking. He is a local resident and has a Nevada license. I've personally known Al for about 16 years, met him shortly after he moved to Las Vegas from NYC where he was a practicing attorney. He is no idiot! I wrote he's paying almost $60 (before tips) for 3 stops in a day, not $60 per stop. Looks like you think it is okay to price gouge people (even locals) while screwing employees (also locals) at the same time!

I can't wait to hear what happens with tipping.....if folks are paying, the tips are going to go way down I would think. No one likes to get gouged, and the valets will end up suffering for it.
Valets are getting a percentage of the cut. The only complaint I've heard from two valets is now they are more on the books where before they were much less.

Not according to anything I've read. Ask them how much of the $17 they get, above and beyond any hourly wage.
