Paula Deen Has a Great Smile

There, now that I got saying something nice about her out of the way, check out the transcript of her recent deposition, where she testified under oath that she really wanted a:

“very southern style wedding” for her brother modeled after a restaurant where the “whole entire wait staff was middle-aged black men” clad in white jackets and black bow ties, according to a transcript of the deposition filed in federal court in Georgia. Deen also admitted to having used the N word and discussed the ways the word could be “not said in a mean way.”

You know, the friendly way white southerners use the N word not in a mean way. Because that exists.

Time to settle, Paula.

And this is a matter that has a high concern in your life? I suggest you show Paula how you feel by not buying any of her new cookbooks or watching her show.
did you read what she said?

Its not condescending or racist....its just - wait, whats the word they use...hertiage. Yes, thats it. Heritage.

What a strange comment to be making in a forum like this. You recently posted here on threads relating to Tim Tebow and James Gandolfini - and presumably those subjects are not "a high concern in your life" - but then you go on the attack over this. Why are threads about Tebow and Gandolfini okay with you, but not ones about Paula Deen?

Was there something in Ms. Deen's word's you find particularly admirable? Or is it just her cooking?

I never liked the N letter. It should be bamed.
I mostly feel sorry for her. These attitudes are taught, and she's probably not bright enough to fight it.

She's been marinating in the worst aspect of southern white culture for so long she doesn't recognize the rot got her. Or at least the part of her that's not teeth.
Oddly enough, I didn't need more reasons to dislike this vapid. puffed-up buffoon.
I certainly don't condone the way she and her family have treated co-workers and wait staff. The victims do have a recourse for this and it appears that they are using it now.
The idea of "young black men in black jackets and bow ties" seems no stranger than a Hooters ad for help. Well you need to be young, look good in short shorts and finally have a decent size set of boobs. I would think that would be problematic the same.
Use of the N word is not against any law, it just shows some real ignorance. Of course we will never run out of people saying ignorant things sadly.

Have never watched one of her cooking shows and have never purchased any cookbook she was or is peddaling. Southern whites will need more time to finally realize that we are equal! sadly enough!
