Pawn Shop

I found a watch I was interested in but the clerk said he did not have the authority to bargain and that the price was the price, no one was there that could lower the price. I left without the watch.

That is almost to the letter my experience at the Pawn Shop, except I did not get buzzed in.

My wife is very knowledgeable on jewelry & she said their prices were too high for what they were selling.

I don't know how they identify things to film, since they don't hang around all the time, I'm told.

My guess is they have people who screen items that come in, then schedule filming when something looks of interest. I've wondered how they 'select' the other people you see milling around the place during an episode, because the shop isn't open to the public during those times.

I suspect the filming (like most "reality shows") is completely staged. Those people who bring items into the store are sent by the producers and given items to pawn.

Makes sense, especially because the 'shills' I'll call them, have a lot of screen presence, more so than average folks who don't usually do that well extemporaneously in front of a TV camera.
Last year I saw that Ballys had tours for the Gold and Silver for $20.

I do peruse the shops on occasion including Gold and Silver Pawn. There are several around that are open 24 hours and these I usually visit early in the morning. Just for kicks, my wife and I went to a few pawn shops in Atlantic City to sell her tennis bracelet. It would cost about a $1000 in a jewelry store at the mall. The best offer we got was $35. I bet there's a lot of wiggle room on the jewelry they sell at pawn shop.

I love it when Rick looks at a customer and makes the comment "THAT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN" I would like to see a customer look at him and make the same remark when he makes an offer..never quite seen a handshake like Rick's son put out there side saddle style..of all the old man makes the best showing with his put on attitude. Best of show goes to Chumlee hands down......They had a good thing going why expand and put cubes one on top of the other looks like the Circus is on town...
Like they really need the money! I was coming out of the Silverton one morning getting ready to go to the bank up the street when I bumped into the father waiting to get his car from valet. He and his wife must have played all night and they were ready to go home. I started talking to him when his brand new Bentley was brought up by the valet. He had a hook up for a "scooter" that his wife road around on. I joked around with him saying he must have gotten a nice new contract. He got a good laugh out of that one.
Rick's new wife has the same look for Rick
THAT"S NOT going to happen.....tonight"
