Pet insurance for a three year old doodle.

My doggie turns three this month and I want to get some pet insurance for him. Had VPI on my last dog and was fairly happy with them, but am always looking for something better.
Anyone have a pet insurance company they can recommend?
I just got quotes from a bunch of companies, and they all are in the $25-45 a month range, but would like to hear from some policyholders. Thanks
Don't have a policy but I've never had a client upset with VPI. I've had some clients complain about ASPCA insurance. We're starting to get brochures about PurinaCare but no info from clients on them yet.
I can see getting insurance on a number of things, however a doodle is something else. I just don't know, why would anyone insure their doodle?
Reviews of pet insurance policies here. After reading up on them several months ago, I chose Trupanion - but I've never made a claim.

I have VPI for my cat, Ralph. Didn't have insurance on him the first two times he needed emergency surgery (1st time attacked by dogs, 2nd time ate a chicken bone and perforated his intestine -- over $4k each time), but did have the last time (ate a piece of wood and perforated his intestine again). It, too, was over $4k and we got back somewhere around $1500. I opted for all coverage except for cancer treatment (wouldn't put any pet through that -- nor myself) and his monthly premium is $50.15. It's definitely better than NOT having any insurance, but not fabulous.
Alright, if no one else is going to ask. Mare, what policy do you have on Rachel?
Nobody sells squirrel insurance! lol Thankfully, she's never needed to see a vet for anything and she's already 7 years old (knock on wood). I hate to see the day that she does. She's friendly with me, but she'd be a terror if I had to put her through a vet experience!
My idiot vet advertises pet insurance. A big poster is on the wall. But my vet doesn't accept insurance. Not even the one they advertise.

My dog is one of the millions of uninsured pets in this country.
How can you vet not accept insurance? It doesn't work that way. You pay your vet up front for any incurred charges and then you turn in paperwork to the insurance company for reimbursement (of some charges, not all).

The only thing your vet has to do is fill out the claim form YOU provide to him.
Pet Insurance? I thought that was covered by Obama Care?
