Pinch me, I must be dreaming......

I received an e-mail from Spirit Airlines today, touting some last minute airfares. Just for laughs, I looked up the RT fares for MSP to LAS the week of April 22nd. I can fly out late Monday night (22nd) and come back on the red-eye early Friday morning(26th) for a grand total of $59.80!!!! That's right folks, that includes all taxes and fees...booked that sucker. Booked a room at the Golden Gate-- 3 nights comped and the 4th night for $40. I also have a food credit and some free slot play thrown in....so for $100 I'm going back to Vegas. I've been able to bag some low airfares in the past; but nothing to compare with this. I'll make good use of my LVA and ACG coupons to make this trip as cheap as possible. A co-worker switched some work days with me, so I won't have to use vacation days. I'll just throw in a change of clothes and my toothbrush into my backpack, so I won't have to pay any baggage fees from Spirit. I was in Vegas last month for St Patrick's Day and I booked a trip for early June, but damn...this is one deal I just can't pass up. I'll gladly accept a couple of "You Suck" from the masses.

You definitely got a great deal, congrats.

But Spirit will charge you another $50-$200 for that backpack if it exceeds 16 x 14 x 12 inches, depending on when and where you pay, so keep that in mind.

This sort of bag, for instance, is outside that limit, and Spirit's business model is to collect these fees.

Thanks for your concern, Chilly, but I've dealt with Spirit before and am well aware of their baggage limitations. I'm traveling light this trip so I'm not worried about any baggage charges....in the event that they give me a hassle, I'll be sure to give you guys a 'heads-up'.....and you can give me a "I told you so".

You lucky bastard! As we all tell you here "YOU SUCK!" Have a great time. Just wish you weren't staying at the Golden Gate. Better places to stay at for your stay! But have a great time anyway!

Don't worry about me, Bags.. I LOVE the Gate. Their rooms are comfortable enough for my simple needs, the dealers are engaging and friendly, decent BJ rules and downtown affords me lots of gambling options. I'll purchase a 3 day bus pass, so the Strip will be a short ride away. I can get a quick and satisfying meal at Dupar's and I'm looking forward to a late night bowl of Ox Tail soup at the California cafe. Sure, I could get some free nights from MGM or CET, but the dealers and cocktail waitress know me by my first name at the Gate. I always have a great time gambling there, even when I lose. I plan on a morning craps session, then VP at the Boar's Head bar at MSS, a strip crawl in the afternoon and a lengthy blackjack session back at the Gate til the wee hours. Lather, rinse and repeat.....fly home on Friday, sleep for 12 hours and start dreaming of my upcoming June trip.
