Planning my trip--Advice needed

If she's truly adventurous, take her to the Strat "rides".

Also the indoor sky diving place.

Re. the possible stay downtown, one attracton for many is the premium outlet mall, a five minute ride on the strip/downtown express (board the bus going AWAY from the strip).

Re. sharks, don't forget the exhibit at Mandalay Bay. I suspect she might enjoy that more than the slide, if she is intellectually interested in sharks.

I see a flaw in your logic.
If she wants to go on the rides up on top of the Strat. she's going to have to find someone else to take her. There is no way I'm ever going up there again. I didn't even know I was afraid of heights until my first trip there. I'm sure it wont be a problem finding someone in our group to take her. I can wait down below in the casino.

I would say downtown is not very kid-friendly for the most part. Downtown has transformed into a giant adult show at night...almost every casino features strippers at the tables or dancing on the tables. I think its awesome... but you can use your own values to determine if your teenager can handle it or not.

The Golden Nugget shrk tank is a blast but I would venture Golden Nugget on a Saturday night is not cheap. I suspect the Orleans costs about half as much.

I agree...I wouldn't stay downtown with kids.
A lot of hotels will have a car rental desk where you can rent a car for just a day or two. I like to get a one-way rental from my hotel to the airport for the last 24 hours of my stay. It allows me to visit a few places where I have to drive, and then it doubles as a ride to the airport.
You can find some really good rental car bargains. First place to look is a package deal with your airline. I have found that a rental car pays for itself very quickly when you start looking at taxi costs. I am too impatient to wait for shuttle buses take 30 or more minutes to arrive, which is especially annoying in the summer heat.
Try to stay at the Golden Nugget at least one night so your daughter can do the the slide. It looks like so much fun. I assume you have done a search on this website at all the fun things to do with underage children. Since you are staying at Planet Hollywood, you can use the pool at the Flamingo which has a lot of slides, but none of the them go through a shark tank.
How come no one has mentioned Circus Circus and it's Adventure Dome?
