Plaza Reflects Downtown's Resurgence

I knew I should have bought that place!
it is my son's favorite downtown place. at 26, I think he loves and appreciates Vegas as much as I do. he was hurt when they closed the poker room. I love the lights at the Plaza for sure, always have.

Wow. at 26. He must have an "old soul."
What is his favorite part? what is the "draw" for him?

The poker room at the Plaza never really had a chance.

My favorite part of the property has always been the pool. I am thinking about staying there on my next solo visit just for the pool. I hope it doesn't get "ruined" like the Downtown Grand's pool did.

yes the poker room was nothing, but he liked the daily tournaments and he won a few times. that will make you like a place. he loves to gamble and loves the night life, like me. I have never stayed there. I usually take a lap thru there once or twice when I am in town. I don't like or hate the place, but it has never grown on me. from the pics that I have seen, their pool is a copycat of the Grand.
I love the Plaza for so many reasons...and I will be back there soon.

Why do you consider DTG's pool "ruined"..just curious?
"Ruined" is a very subjective term.

For over 30 years my favorite Vegas routine includes recuperating from the previous nights excesses by lying out by a nice pool, preferably with bar service. I prefer this to be a relaxing, quiet-ish time in the middle of the day. Lately music and crowds have made this a rare find. Or perhaps I am just getting old.

I really liked the DG's pool when they opened but it quickly became a mini-day club as it got popular. I understand that this is what most people want and I certainly don't expect businesses to cater to me when there is money to be made elsewhere. I do like that Eastside Downtown is doing better, it's just a little to young of a crowd for me.

The Plaza has PICKLEBALL.

Not as demanding as tennis.

I'm with you. I do like the DG pool. I don't care for the loud music. they have made several adjustments since opening, but the loud music has remained. I am a late sleeper, I like to start my day at the pool around noon or 1 o'clock. I like having some music to relax to, but not what they are playing. surely I am not THAT old. incidentally, 3 weeks ago I went to the pool at the Cal. OMG the most rude, obnoxious, loud, disgusting, gross extended family was there. some people don't get out much I guess. it was anything but enjoyable for me.

.... and one more thing that I noticed when I was at the Grand's pool in August -- some of the seating that used to be 'free", is now reserved for renting. of course they were almost all vacant. everything is a money grab now.
