I never knew much about ALS, but saw a segment on Real Sports that broke my heart. It is such a terrible disease because it affects the lungs but not the mind. Remember, no matter how sick your brother looks and feels his mind is still 100% and he needs the family support.

Was your brother an athlete or otherwise did he get hit on the head?

That's amazing. I really don't think he ever had a concussion or been hit in the head a lot. So sad Thanks for sharing I am going to ask him if he remembers being hit. Made me so sad seeing and knowing George will be there some day.

Sheltie, you do have one thing to be thankfull about. You get to spend time with your brother before he leaves. Since you know his time is finite, you know you have to say the things you've been meaning to say. I wish I got to say goodbye to my dad before he passed away, in this way I envy that you will have time to say your goodbyes. When it is his time, please remember he goes to a better place where there is no pain, only love.

Thanks Chefantwon. I tell him every day we talk how much I love him. I was lucky I was able to tell my parents how I felt and to say goodbye. I'm sorry you did not
Thanks again.
I am very sorry. My best always.
Very sorry to hear of your brother. I didnt know what ALS was and had to look it up. (for those who dont know, its also known as lou gerhigs disease).
Prayers go out to you and all of yours, especially your brother.

JOHN
Thanks again everyone. Yes John..I really did not know much about ALS other then it was Lou Gerhigs disease. It is such a bad thing No cure just a death sentence. Your mind stays as sharp as ever but your body does not.

This is the form my Brother has.
Sorry to hear . My thoughts and prayers to your brother and family . I have seen This disease twice in my lifetime . A cousin and a friend . It is devastating for everyone involved .
Show your love and support . It means a lot that everybody is there with him . My friend was ashamed to be seen on his bad days . He didn't want to be burden to anybody . Understandably but we just couldn't let him be alone.
God Bless your brother.
