This is a very interesting issue, jatki.
Fried twinkies and the evils of 6:5 blackjack are all very well and good, but sometimes it seems the moderators and some other regular posters on this board want to pretend that Las Vegas exists in a vacuum and is unaffected by politics.
Take, for example, the immigration issue. Is there anybody on this forum that would dispute that immigrants, undocumented and otherwise, play a central role in the day-to-day life of Las Vegas? There are many thoughtful and intelligent posters on this board that are willing and capable of having an adult conversation on what to do with the undocumented aliens. Are we going to deport 12 million people? I don't think so. But there are also childish, immature and hateful posters here who resort to insults and racism whenever this issue is raised, and so the whole thread gets whacked.
And, so, I agree with you, jatki. The offending posts should be removed, the hate-mongers put on ignore (or better yet banned), and the rest of us should be allowed to carry on with an adult conversation.
