Poker players

The wife wants to go to Vegas the middle of next week to entertain clients. It would be a completely paid trip for me so normally I would already be filing a flight plan. However, there is also a slightly rare and fantastic weather phenomenon due to hit California at the same time so I need to weigh out the fun factor of going or not.

My question for poker players is how good are the side/cash games during the WSOP? I haven't been to Vegas during the WSOP since the late '90s. Also to consider, it's early in the series, a couple of weeks from the main event. Is there a poker crowd gathering that early? Has anyone played the WSOP or side action?

I was there in 2009, stayed about 21 days. Did not play any tournaments, I only play Limit up to $15 ish-$30 ish. The lower limits 4-8, 3-6, & 6-12 were super fishy for me. Did very well.

Over the years I've been to other areas with tournies going, and also did well. The "other" significant others are often bored and learning the game.

::: shrug :::
Cash games are generally best early as most of the "trying to build a bankroll' crowd and the "I'm taking the WSOP off from my real job" crowd have fresh bankrolls. As the weeks roll on, many of the weaker players go broke or run low on cash. Games at Venetian and Bellagio should have good action as well.
Departure date got moved to Friday so I am super happy.
I only have one obligatory dinner to attend so the rest of the time I am going to play poker. We are staying at the Wynn (never stayed there) but I will go over to the Rio to play and move out from there if the games are not good.

Good luck and have fun.
