In bad economic times, folks only buy what they have to have.
People have to have beer.

Don Diego is right. (OMG - I said it! Don Diego should add this post to his bookmarks)

Historically the brewers perform very well in economic downturns. People drink when they are depressed. And if you have concerns about the future of US currency (as Don Diego does) then a Global player in a largely recession proof industry is a good hedge.

Personally, I cant bring myself to buy BUD - simply because I think their product tastes like chilled urine. Its the Peter Lynch principle of buying what you know. PJStroh doesn't do Budweiser....and ironically he doesn't do Stroh's either
Do they still make Strohs? Haven't seen it in years.
I think PJ drinks Busch beer in honor of our two Presidents.

From wikipedia :
"The Stroh Brewery Company was a beer brewery located in Detroit, Michigan. In addition to their own Stroh's brand, they produced or bought the rights to several other brands including Goebel, Schaefer, Schlitz, Augsburger, Erlanger, Lone Star, Old Milwaukee, Red River, and Signature, as well as manufacturing Stroh's Ice Cream. The company was taken over and broken up in 2000 but some of its brands continued to be made by the new owners. Stroh's beer is currently made by the Pabst Brewing Company."

Stroh's also owned Piel's Beer in it's hey-day.

DonDiego opines that any company which intentionally brewed Schaefer, Schlitz, and Piel's should not be permitted a continued existence.

Before my local stop and rob stopped carrying it, Strohs was my beer of choice. Although one could still buy a 30 pack at Kroger. A 15 pack of strohs ran $6.99 compared a 12 pack of bud at $12.99.

There's a reason for that.

I am not really up on the financial world of making money . I earned it hour by hour.
Now I have a question?

What is a good investment . Short term and low risk.

Hypothetically I have $20,000.

Indeed, they are not listed in Food and Wine .

But they do have their own web-page: bumwine.com

The history of Boones...

This made me laugh.
